there is a discussion about carnets being available for tickets with different pricing per direction for normal return tickets. As a carnet allows unlimited travel between the two named stations, it would seem that one return journey "wrong way" would be against the spirit of the pricing but would it be breaking the terms of the ticket?
Maybe the first touch in of the day has to be at the named origin station, although that wouldn't cater for a journey starting at an intermediate point. The t&c's don't make it clear as far as I can tell, and the normal return ticket rule of outward only being valid if in possession of an unused return doesn't translate to what is effectively a single day season.
