While I was at the GCR gala today, I found these odd looking Neds....

Some neds plan their next move...

While another finds something to photograph

I then found a TTI doing his usual amount of work...

And a ned who looks as though he is busy videoing the inside of a carriage

And finally, a ned appears as though he is ready to fight....

:D

An excellent day, my highlights of the day:

* The cleaner at Leicester North, and his choice of shorts and wollie hat!
* NickW: "Why are we not moving when the signal has cleared?" Everyone: "Because we're at a station!"

Managed to get decent traction for most of the way there and all of the way back too (only 15 mins on a Meridian/Voyager type 'thing' ;))

The staff were very friendly to us, and I thank them for the time they took to speak to us, it made us feel even more welcome.

Nice to meet a few new people too!

well im glad you enjoyed your self and thanks very much for visiting us

sorry it went a bit wrong early on but we managed to pull it back in the end and even got the cig going by 3pm

i must say well done to my mates on D5185 who last night were absoloutly fed up when she decided to play dead on them and i know that the double headded rats was popular

what were you favorite runs so i can feed it back to the GCR to improve the gala for next time

Yes very embarrasing.

Having been enlightened by the rothley cabin experience the previous day, I was concentrating on signals not on platforms.

Still embarrasing.

Whats with the arriva bus driver uniform and high vis vest at the GCR?

For full authenticity, on standby in case of a requirement for bustitution ;)

"We are sorry to announce that the double-headed 25's have been replaced with a double-decker bus."

Leicester North was kept very tidy by being constantly swept. If only this level of attention was at every rail station these days! I don't think he stopped all day?

Oi, Niv, shouldn't you be returning to annoying WSXfan (as I believe that is his head obscuring some of the image?)

It is indeed my head and shoulders occupying a vast amount of the image HP posted.

And if I look wasted in the other shot, it was because I heard HP say something, pulled my head in to see what he said and he had gotten the shot in the low light occupying the vestibule we were in.
