It appears there are no trains through St Helens Central toward Wigan NW until mid-day today.
Northern again excelling itself in not providing a complete weekend service, although this time it seems to be NR's fault.
Apparently its due to signalling staff being taken ill. Ok, but does it take 6 hours to find a replacement signaller?

It appears the line has just re-opened so only 4 hours to find a replacement signaller & end the disruption.

The wording on NRE is a bit different and sort of implies the box might have been full of ambulance crew and thus unable to be operated, rather than that the signaller didn't show up.

Oh dear - hope the signaller involved makes a full recovery.

Does highlight a risk associated with 'traditional' signalboxes - if you're on your own and fall ill, there is no immediate colleague support to hand (unlike in a Route Operating Centre, say)

So you make sarcastic comments about Northern and then in the same sentance say it's not their fault. Amazing.
