Hi all. Any finalised date for this? Wanting a final go before it happens. Also are they still opperating across the entire route or are they restricted to certain sections?
Cheers

Will there be any sort of farewell rail tour, to mark the last ever (when it happens) old surface stock train?

I hope it takes the same route as the C stock Explorer tourTwo Tours were run for C Stock, the same is envisaged for D Stock, later in the year.
Yes I've heard about thatGauge clearence for D Stock in some locations may present 'issues'.
Returning to Works for mods? Out of interest what work will be done?
A special new shop was constructed at Ruislip.IIRC it would have been done at Neasden under the previous contract.
Plenty still around today. They don't seem to be concentrated on any particular branch.
11 out today.Agreed, I spotted a good few running around, as well as a couple on the Kenny O services.
High Street Kensington to Baker Street and the Hammersmith branch.
Can D stock run on absolutely any section of the Met, H&C, District and Circle lines?
Certainly not in passenger service.
Last year a train was sent to Amersham siding for storage and was reformed from an eastbound District train at Tower Hill and then run empty to Amersham via Wembley Park and fast Line.
Only as single units though. Coupled units would foul the depot entrance at Hammersmith.Reliable source tells me D78s can run across all of the above. Too long for some platforms, but that's not an issue on a rail tour. Fits all the relevant signalling berths since the S7 enabling works.

Only saw 2 out today which was a bit of a worry perhaps their withdrawal is coming sooner than expected
19 trains remain available for service.
One train departs London each week.
Final withdrawal is still looking like end of September.
