If I ever hit the LM area I seem to always see 350123 at least once! For round my way, 158749 used to show up at somepoint without fail, now it's part of 158961 it will have to be something else following me now!

As my main traction at XC is Voyagers I have always kept a record of them and these are my current mileages (XC Only shown). So you would think they would pretty much equally average out. Not so though. My highest is 010 at 8249.73 and lowest is 119 at 3106.4. Now that is quite a considerable difference for no explainable reason. So maybe 010 is my stalker

I genuinely hate myself for doing this because it is so pointless, but I crunched the data you gave for the Voyagers with some straightforward-ish statistical stuff. Which unit you get at any time is probably going to be a bit random, so in statistics you would pretty much by default draw a bell curve (I hope, anyway...).

The "histogram" shows your mileages, and the "normal distribution" shows what you might expect theoretically from the data, if Voyagers behave randomly :D. It's a pretty good fit.

I would do the same for the Pendolinos, but life has suddenly revealed itself to me as too short... :)

The closest I have to a "stalker" unit at present is FGW Pacer 143620. But given they only have eight of them, that's hardly surprising :|

Well well. All very interesting. So what you are basically saying is you shouldn't expect a uniform distribution of mileage.

Indeed, that would be quite unlikely. :D

I could complicate things by saying that it depends on the variance of the distribution, of which I have no clue what it should be in theory (how do you model trains?! :D) so maybe I should have done something differently, but the net result is the same.

I get you wouldn't expect all of them to have the same but the highest being well over double the lowest does seem a bit excessive to me.

Up until recently, whenever I travelled on the Snow hill lines, 150013 used to literally stalk me. I can't remember a time when I haven't passed it, rode on it or or at least passed it when class 150s had domination, but for obvious reasons, that no longer occurs...

I wonder if I'll get a 172 taking its place? 172340 is doing a good job of trying to follow in its footsteps at the moment!!!

Me too, and 006. Interestigly 90006 and 90007 were my most common 90s when they moved to one.
Back in the days of HSTs on Cross Country, two powercars in particular I seemed to see lots, and ended up being hauled by too many times when I got a Cross Country too. These were 43103 "HELSTON FURRY DANCE" and 43158 "Dartmoor, The Pony Express". Don't know how much was just that the names particularly stood out though. On MML it was 43055 "Sheffield Star".

I cant go anywhere on the Northern network without seeing the ex ATN 150s (150228, 268 - 277), even when i go to Lincoln one turns up.

The EMT units that always seem to be where i am are 158770, 158773 or 158777.

When i was in Devon in September 142063 & 153333 stalked me for days coupled together. Then it was 142068 & 153380. One day i went to Cardiff and m unit back to Taunton was 153380.

153354 & 153364 stalk me like mad - they went to NXEA and i visit friends alot down Norwich and they was working every service i went on, now when i go to Birmingham there always on the Snow Hill service, or Walsall turns.

172341 keeps following me about and also 170501 has followed me in the in the past. One day on the Glouchester shuttle and another on the Walsall line! 150 and 153 wise I've never had any of them really follow me apart from little 012 which kept tracking me down!:D

It seems that 172345 is aspiring to become my replacement for 150001.

156459 seems to follow me a lot in the mornings. It seems that I am not the only one with this train. However I wonder for how much longer, now that the ex-LM are starting to cascade to Northern.

For a while it was 220030 - seemed to turn up all over the place, both for journeys and while at the station - mainly round the Stafford area. The last I saw of it was a couple of months back where it found me in York <(

185111 also had a period of following me too but alas, she hasn't materialised as of late.

You may notice a pattern from the above to the below too....

139002, 172342, 172345 and 150133 all stalk me when I'm near their operating areas. 150105(when it was 150005) used to stalk me as did 150001.

Hey all, Just wondering if you ever have a specific unit that seems to follow you around for me I have 158777, It seems to be the only 158 that I ever see/travel on (even though its getting rarer and rarer to see them on the Robin Hood Line now there are extra 156's from northern

Whats been stalking you guys then?

Talking of 158777, first EMT 158 i saw today (and rode on) was the all sevens 158!
