just a thought, I apologize before hand if this is the wrong section I did look an felt this was the best place to post? :)

so as above does anybody collect or make use of these? I did many moons ago as a young teen, but I bought to keep boxed, never used them. I often browse the latest stock as I find them interesting to look at.

I have a few Hornby models and, being a modeller, I run them quite regularly.
There are a huge number of Hornby collectors and many of them never open the box.
Hornby is a long established brand name, although there have been changes in ownership over the years, via lines Bros / Tri-ang.
There are many different models to collect, from 1920's O gauge to the more recent, "Railroad" Lima Deltic based models, etc and the, completely new, premium models, such as the Brush class 60 Diesel electric.

Have you looked at eBay to see what they go for? An advanced search will let you see and would give you an idea of how often stuff like yours comes up and what it sells for .

My son has decided to sell his Hornby 'Northern Belle' Class 47 Pullman loco, (R3153) and a three car set to go with it, (R4539, Glamis/Harlech and Warwick). Neither of us know whether these are rare and sought after, or just one of many out there. I believe they are now discontinued but have no idea of what to ask for them. We have a new/secondhand place here in Sheffield, (Rails of Sheff), where I could take them, but would like a fair price. As far as I can see they are perfect, as are their boxes. I recently saw two cars for sale, which were unboxed and in need of attention for £70 and a single car, again unboxed for £20. Help, anyone?
