This is a long shot, but here goes.

On several 1960s videos which feature the Settle & Carlisle, that I have in my collection, there are clips of a long and heavy train carrying track panels, with concrete sleepers, on bogie bolsters.

This train is usually (but not always) headed by a pair of 8Fs.

Would anyone know where this train originated? I presume it ran to Carlisle, but am not totally sure of that either. I really would like to know of its starting point and the route it took to get to the S&C.

Which way was it heading in the clips?

North bound would probably have come in at Hellifield off the line from Blackburn.
Unlikely to be via Skipton as this would be off region below Cononley.
