Driverless Train Technology in London?

I'd rather have the driver too; really I never seen the point in ATO. Fine the train stops faster but as I went on the Jubilee line two weeks ago during the Olympics, the acceleration and general cruising isn't constant. It slows, speeds up, slows etc.

That is to do with the signalling system used; a train operator driving in manual under TBTC would have had the same, provided he could react quickly enough of course!

Automatic train operation reduces journey times by providing for faster braking, and potentially faster acceleration. It enables the benefits of moving-block signalling to be truly achieved.

Assuming the target speed in TBTC is constant (before it reduces for a station) surely a human operator would use the infinitely variable traction/brake controller to maintain a smoother speed profile. And all ATO systems seem to stop the train harshly with 2 bars showing on the main res gauge. That is not to say manually driven tubes don't do this but I don't.
