Any news on any 37s, 47s, 57s and 66s going to be entering service, scrapped (not on the 66s on course) or going to other freight operators?

I don't know what the current state of affairs are, but 47813 & 47853 Should be ready and waiting in Eastleigh to return to service, 501 is currently undergoing an overhaul, and 839 seems to be listed for a longer term comback - partly because the bodywork is in such a poor state.

Other than that, the only two other locos due to make a entry into the DRS fleet will be 37402 & 405 up at Barrow Hill.

Thanks, what is the future of 37038? When is 37607 going to be in traffic? Are 37667, 682 and 688 going to be stored, if so when? Are 37412 and 683 going to be scrapped? Are DRS not going to off lease more 66s to other freight operators?

Dang, I'm desperate to see 47709 so I guess I'll have to find a way to get over there and see it. However, It's good to see that there are so many 37s either undergoing overhaul or facing a possible overhaul.

Thanks for the list Sam

I believe 37607 may be back in traffic very soon. Not had an update on it yet. 37038 may be stopped but I don't think DRS have got a plan for it yet, 37059 and 37069 I believe are both going to be reactivated. 37412 is going to leave for scrap soon. In the last issue of RAIL that came out 2 weeks ago, they said they had visited Barrow Hill and on the day 37412 was stripped with it's engine missing. Apparently the removal of the loco had been delayed because of a nesting bird in the loco! 37683 is already in a state but should lose it's Power Unit to 37422, which quite frankly I would rather see 37422 back in traffic. I know it and 37401 have been started up while at Kingmoor. I believe nothing has been confirmed for the future of 37667, 682 and 688 but I have a feeling they may be stopped to help the 37/4s return. Just as long as 37688's name (Kingmoor TMD) is transferred to another loco I'm happy. More 66s (probably 66421-430) will be brought off lease later in 2013 in presume, when the 68s arrive from Valencia (Spain).

Well I believe 47709 could be one of the next DRS 47s to be scrapped, it is stripped. I don't think it is vsible from a public place (Eastleigh Works is a bit difficult to see from a public point). 47712 is probably also going in next two years at the most as this is just being used for carriage heating. I did see this sunbathing outside Crewe LNWR yesterday which I'm happy about. 47712 is believe needs some new parts. 47832 is also in limbo, it's at Eastleigh Works.

This is 47709, Not my photo: http://www.carlswatson.com/Trains/G...eighWorks/eastleighworks26thjanuary20123.html

Hope this helps, good to see I am useful for once, Sam.

37412 has been de-registered and scrapped but not sure about 37683? Anymore news on 37607 being released in traffic after its overhaul? 47501 overhaul has been completed according to www.wnxx.com

Care to update the status of the DRS fleet again soon.

Care to update the status of the DRS fleet again soon.

Here you go, updates to the original list.

Number Livery Pool Allocation Notes
37412 (DELETED)- Scrapped
47501 DS XHSS ZG Overhaul nearing completion
47832 VN XHSS ZG Undergoing overhaul
47853 DS XHAC KM
57012 DS XHSS CR (moved north for attention)

Livery Codes (for update)
DS-DRS Compass
DR-DRS Blue
VN-Northern Belle Umber & Cream

Depot Codes (for update)
ZG-Eastleigh Works
KM-Carlisle Kingmoor
CR-Crewe Gresty Bridge

Pool Codes (for update)
XHAC-DRS ETS Fitted
XHSS-DRS Stored

47853 is now out and about. 47501 is showing progress.
57012 has moved to Crewe for attention, with more work for the DRS 57s.
Still no news on the 57/3s.
And 37087 and 37510 may be staying with HNRC saying that more parts from them may be required in the future. 37510 could be good enough to return to mainline albeit with Harry Needle. 37412 has been cut up. 37683 is still, as far as I know, still at Derby. Power unit for 37422 so may be staying until it arrives at Derby.

Hope this helps, and if you need any more help just let me know.
Thanks, Sam

37607 has been moved to crewe in the DRS compass livery so it should enter traffic soon meaning 37038 is the only serviceable 37 left in the old DRS livery.

And according to www.wnxx.com, a picture of 37683 at Derby is showing it on the rails in almost good condition as if it travelled by rail than by road

It travelled there by road, trust me.
The photo, which I had already seen (use WNXX regulary), makes it look like it is in a good state but as can be said, it is what it is inside that matters.
Don't judge a book (or a train) by it's cover (or bodyshell). When I saw a photo of it round the back of Crewe Rail Centre, it didn't look in a great state. Shame I didn't see it on my trek round Derby on Tuesday.
Well, all I'm saying is that it isn't in a great but I may be wrong.

Thanks, Sam

37607 and all the 3 57/3s have all entered traffic.

They haven't entered traffic as such yet. 37607, as of yesterday, was still on Gresty Bridge but is now in the XHNC pool (General/Nuclear locos).
57302, 57304 and 57309 are now in the XHAC pool (ETS fitted locos).I believe 57304 went to Crewe LNWR last week for tyre turning, but I haven't heard of any report for 57302. 57309 though had already entered traffic when it travelled to York in June but yesterday it was on Greater Anglia thunderbird duties around Stowmarket.

Hope this helps, Sam

One of the 57/3s took the ecs of the boat train from crewe to glasgow then on the rear of the train to southampton as far as carlisle kingmoor.

37218 has been released from repairs and allocated to the XHNC pool.

57302 hauled the Cruisesaver stock from Crewe to Glasgow on Monday http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/7923961152/

57309 was only hauled to York in June, it was returned to store at Crewe entering service last week, it was in Norwich on Sunday http://www.flickr.com/photos/kl47576/7920451004/

Yes you are right 47709 is to be cut up on site soon.
http://carlswatson.com/Trains/Galle...leighWorks/eastleighworks17thaugust20126.html

And on the subject of the 57/3s, when I last posted here the status of 57302 and 57304 was that they were still at Gresty Bridge, but on Monday 57302 hauled the Cruise Saver Express ECS from Crewe to Glasgow and on the charter itself got dropped off at Kingmoor.

RIP 47709, you're cut up time is after the A Stock

Thanks, Sam

This apparently isnt true. A rumour im afraid. So it'll no doubt get cut up along with the A stock, as and when.

Nope, not a rumour and not completely true either. Sadly work started on scrapping 47709 yesterday morning by Raxstar, and whats left of it is likely to be gone by tommorow morning. So RIP 709.

A Stock still remains to be cut. A positioning move i wonder? maybe.

What a waste, this isn't the first time DRS have overhauled a loco and then not used it. 37197 has had the same fate and it wouldn't surprise me if 37683 and 47791, which have been painted in DRS colours but never been used by them also get scrapped soon.
RIP 47709, stored from SDFR pool in February 2007.

Thanks, Sam

DRS 57309 and 37606 at Norwich Station coupled together

Taken on 14th September 2012

Interesting that 57309 was ex-Virgin thunderbird

Annoyingly 37259/607 worked 4V38 08:22 Daventry - Wentloog 12:02 today, first time it hasn't been worked by a 66!

Shall work 4M36 00:47 Wentloog - Daventry 06:48 tonight!

What is the current status of 37/4 overhauls & scrapping?

37402/405- Should be ready November :D
37422- Power Unit now at Barrow Hill, rest of the loco being worked on at Kingmoor :D

According to some sources, most of 37/4s could return. I put my money on 37401/411 returning next after the above three.

Oh and on another note, the Blue & Grey (former Cargo-D) Mark 2 coaches that DRS purchased that had been stored at Toton have now moved to Barrow Hill! These, by my calculations () should be 5810, 5971, 5995, 6173 and 9508. These join 1254, 3366, 3374, 5901, 5919, 6001, 6008, 6046, 6064, 6117, 6122 and 9525 owned by DRS and at Barrow Hill. 9506 still remains in traffic with ScotRail.

Thanks, Sam

Thanks for the info. I am sure many wouldn't have thought at one time 37402 would ever work again, will do thanks to DRS.

37402 and 37405 were earmarked as just spares donors.
Thank HNRC as well, they are the ones getting them back to health
Thanks, Sam
