Thanks to WNXX (subscription section) for information regarding a new loco disposal pool, XSDP, that has been created as follows

Class 20 - 301/302/303/304/305/308/309/312

Class 37 - 602/603/604/605/606/609/703

Class 57 - 004/008/009/010/011/012

It will be interesting to see if anyone has the money/ability/nerve to attempt renovation or whether they will be stripped for spares

The 20s are ideal for a bit or re-engineering into battery (bi-mode) shunters similar to the new Clayton Class 18s but at a far lower cost.

They're intending to sell of these locos? Possibly one of the new ad-hoc operators (eg. ROG) may want some of the 57s?

Maybe you could also reengineer them into 69s? :D

Why would a reengineered 47 need another reengineer?

Sad to hear :'(. Are these being replaced by something else or are they just unneeded capacity? What sort of condition are the class 20s in?

Most of these locos have been stored for a few years now after the 68s/88s showed up and I guess DRS has decided there is not much point in holding onto them anymore.

I've never seen any of the 57/0s in this list before.

Why are they stored and how long have they been out ouf use for?

703 was operational at Bo'ness until 2019. I don't know what condition it is in currently.

What’s 37259 doing these days? Not seen that one for a while. What’s going to happen with the 57/3s that aren’t used? What the current situation with 57311?

thanks In advance guys!

I believe 37259 was stored in early 2020 and is currently stored at Kingmoor Depot. 57311 has been stored since early 2018 and is also at Kingmoor currently (it had spent some time at MoD Longtown previously as well).

Others in the XHSS (stored locos) pool include: 37218, 37259, 37409, 57007
and in the XHHP pool (de-registered locos): 37405, 57302, 57311

Are these more likely to go to heritage lines or for parts, Depending on what kind of prices they want?

I would be surprised if the 20s don't see further use. Especially as they are due to be fitted with ETCS cab signalling equipment.

I read that this work was the reason 20302 and 20305 went to Bo'ness back in July last year.

Were any 20s pressed into RHTT work last autumn?

Indeed that’s right.

I’m not aware of any Class 20 RHTT work in 2020.

I didn't realise 609 had a bent frame! Is that from accident damage or some other cause?

Seems a little strange, there are some pictures on WNXX of a smart looking 609 & 069 working the Eastleigh to Nuneaton and Nuneaton to Eastleigh legs of The Blue Boys Ribble Rouser on 10 February 2018, if it suffered some sort of damage and was stored in Feb 18 there's no mention that I can see, although I wait ready to be educated of course .....
