The XC HST turns during the latest blockade which started yesterday on Saturday 15th September runs to Saturday 6th October Inclusive... Diverted from Cheltenham Spa to Bristol TM via Gloucester Patchway & Newport calling at Patchway & Newport.... Also the Derby Blockade is also still on until Sunday 7th October 2018... Nothing like having a mini railtour......

The following are showing to be HST operated

Saturday 15th September to Saturday 6th October 2018

1V48 0548 Leeds Exeter ST Davids
....

Shouldn't this be 1V44? On Saturdays 1V48 shows as the 0725 York to Plymouth, with Voyager timing.

What is the criteria for which trains reverse at Severn Tunnel Junction rather than going into Newport and back out again? Is it related to the time of day or type of train?

Perhaps the unit type could dictate this.

A driver can walk end to end on a single Voyager unit without leaving the train. With a double Voyager unit or a HST the driver is going to have to go trackside to switch ends.

Or possibly pathing.

Severn Tunnel Junction is a Station, not just a Junction, so a driver could change ends by walking along the platform.

They can't reverse in the platform. as both routes are already separated to the west of the station. They reverse at Signal N1730

XC trains get routed to stop at NT1231 on the down relief about 1 mile west of the station. Going from Bristol towards Gloucester go pass P3 then reverse back though P2. Coming from Gloucester towards Bristol go pass P1 and wrong way movement though P3 (Down Tunnel) where it crossover back to Up Tunnel.

Excuse this question if it's too stupid, but where do you go to find out where and when the next scheduled diversions are happening?. I'm thinking about Vale of Glamorgan, Newport to Swindon via Lyndney, Exeter to Castle Cary via Honiton, anything like that in the works? Also are there any 800's that go Bristol to Taunton not via Western SM. Thanks

The XC updates page on their website used to detail these diversions three months in advance but I believe they are presently only posting updates for the one month ahead.
