Of course not but considering this is an easy way of keeping things the right way round (and don't forget lots of VTEC stations have boards telling people where to wait for certain carriages so it's not just first class that's effected) then it makes sense to do it!

Not to mention that going around the Sub would add about 15 minutes onto the journey.

The engineering works have overrun near Berwick all lines are shut with some VTEC services diverting via Carlisle where possible

Bardon Mill Signal.box switched out as usual on Saturday 30th Sep.

67008 did a cracking job Saturday leaving Newcastle 13L and arriving a few minutes early into Carisle, though I realise there’s a fair bit of padding in that leg. Wasn’t too busy in 1st and the early arrival meant I could get the 1549 back down to Leeds via Settle so a winner all round.
