There was a failed Scot Rail unit at Haymarket West Jn at around 11am today and which held up the Southbound Highland Chieftan. After nearly an hour's delay waiting for the unit to be dragged away, we picked up a local driver and went round Edinburgh's South Suburban Line, arriving into Waverley from the east, but now with the set in reverse formation.
This created the possibility of turning the set again on the same journey, before reaching London, by reversing out of Newcastle then running round the loop over the High Level Bridge, and this is exactly what happened.

Makes a welcome change from the usual.
