I've got 2 choices (arriving at Vauxhall at 0900):
  1. East Croydon - Victoria then take the 507 bus
  2. East Croydon - Clapham Junction - Vauxhall

Which route do you think is the least crowded?

The bit from east croydon will be the most crowded, so whichever option you take beyond clapham junction won't make much difference (I'd go with the train option myself because it's quicker)

If you are going on a weekday i would say the bit from Clapham Junction to Vauxhall will also be very crowded but it only takes 4/5 minutes.

Location
The Twiglet Zone.
It's by law of Sod, that no matter which one you choose it'll be the wrong choice.

If you do the change @ Clapham one, then go towards the rear of the train as it's usually less crowded.

An alternative could be use the Tramlink to Wimbledon.

Many thanks for the advice. I've been calculating prices:

Oyster PAYG = 3.90 (train outward) + 3.90(train return) + 1.20(bus outward) + 1.20(bus return) = £10.20

Paper travelcard = £14.80
