The fact you've referred to EMR as EMT, doesn't give me much faith this 'Good Authority' has any truth.

I shall believe it when I see a photo of it, fresh out the paint shop, if it happens. :D

If EMR were to release a painted Purple 43, only weeks before they withdraw it and bring on a fleet of rather grubby, dark blue and unrefurbished 360s, there’s gonna be some questions to be asked about the priorities of their time and money.

Certainly.

Does anyone know the latest on when 360 repaints may start?

Seems quite tame when compared to LNER repainting a whole set into retro livery.

Ultimately we are in a different world now. The gestures are nice but spending money on a full set for a railtour isn't going to happen (you can't operate a retro set on a service train without modifying the livery).

Very true.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned already but EMR are now rebranding the cl360s as “EMR CONNECT” instead of “Electrics”.

I wonder why they chose to rebrand.
Well the Class 810s will be electric as well (in places), so wonder if they're wanting to avoid any confusion, as no doubt part of the "sell" on the 810s when they arrive will be the green bit of using electricity.

In addition, it could be because electrification will eventually be extended north of Kettering (albeit not for a while)

At the bottom of the company magazine it says only 4 170s will join at the May timetable. Also if what they say about the 360 relivery happens then hopefully we should see a couple of units in the new livery before introduction.

With the cl360s planned to be running as 8car initially from May it free ups a lot of spare units to be sent off for refurbishment.

A picture is going around twitter and discord of 43274 in a depot for what potentially could be another repaint/rebrand.

Does any one have any information on this?

I always thought Electrics sounded unpleasantly retro, so I welcome the decision personally.
Has not Connect been used as a brand enough before to be tainted, including some that never launched? Heathrow Connect, First Capital Connect, Midlands Connect, Northern Connect, XC Connect, probably more.

It'll cause confusion at Derby where the mixed link of local and intercity drivers still call themselves the Connect link from the short lived period in 2008 when EMT called the local trains Connect

Tainted "Connect" may be, I shudder when I think of FCC, but it doesn't come across as humdrum as "EMR COMMUTER" though I'd like to see "Electrics" swapped with Express - "EMR EXPRESS"

Presumably 'Connect' is adopted because travel to the North for passengers on the 360s involves a connection at Kettering.
Be a bit of an ironic name if connections aren't held there for late running, though.

I’m pretty sure at present Kettering dwell times for Corby services are longer than other Intercity ones?
