Anyone notice that the trolley service is unusually slow today and they don't know that rule about wine OR cola, but never both? Obviously they couldn't face the unwashed oiks in standard!

More than 40 directors and senior managers across the firm are going ‘back to the floor’ this Friday, 9 March, to join crews on-board train services between London and the East Midlands, Yorkshire, North East England and Scotland.

On the day, East Coast’s Chairman, Directors and senior managers will be staffing buffet counters and refreshment trolleys, and serving complimentary food and drinks to passengers travelling in First Class.

As they go, they will be collecting donations to support the Railway Children, an international children’s charity which rescues homeless children on the streets of Britain and around the world.

Wow...did anyone manage to secure two slices of toast at breakfast service (whilst passing the holy grail :p)

When's their next forum for online comments ?

Or more than a barely half-full glass of wine between Kings Cross and York.

So if all the so called "Top Brass" had a day out who was doing their jobs ?
And if no one was doing them that must mean they can be done away with.

Money saving tip there for East Coast !

The staff that would normally work the trains?!

I think they just issued a press release saying that train crew have been awarded a 500% pay increase as of yesterday, well actually backdated two years... :D

While i know most of the comments are in jest, there was a lot of money raised for a good cause today, fair play to the managers who came on our train who raised at least £200 just on one trip from KX to Leeds.

Well said!
It has been for a very worthy cause, and hopefully has raised the profile of the Charity for the longer term.
Well done, Management and Directors!

In fact, I have been so impressed by this initiative that I even resisted the temptation to ridicule the thread title, by suggesting that "EC top-brass were off their trolley".
