The ECML is blocked at Alnmouth in both directions due to 1V64 developing a fault

Further south all services appear to be at a halt between Northallerton and Thirsk

Voyager with an engine fire it seems.

Also down the line, there has been a fatality at Northallerton.

On a separate note, the WCML has been hit pretty bad today with over-running engineering works, signalling problems and trespassers on the line.

Looks like a fatality at/near Milton Keynes just now.

Smoke seen coming from underneath a voyager. 1V64 to terminate Newcastle. 1Z64 was started from Newcastle to continue the journey south but that has now got stuck behind a fatality at Northallerton. 1T64 from York forward to Plymouth.

When was the last time that both the ECML and WCML have been closed due to fatalities at the same time?

It is anticipated that the line at Northallerton will be handed back by the police c.1710, according to an announcement just now on 1S19.

I'm meant to be on 1E99 1750 Newcastle-Retford as far as York this evening, hopefully things will start moving forwards by the time I set off to the station...

Two northbound services held at Peterborough. 3 services stuck behind 1A31 in Spalding area.

What about SLW between Spalding and Werrington Jumction. Could this be done?

I wish the VTEC website was better during disruption. The information is incorrect stating a failed train between Doncaster and Grantham when the problem is outside Spalding!

Current plan;
1S28 to be held
1A61 to be sent on the Down road to Gosberton
1A31 sent back to Spalding and Assisiting train to move to the front and take away.

As of 1900....

1S28 hasn't moved - stuck between Littleworth's and Tinsley's Crossings
1A61 has reversed, and is stuck behind 1A31, 1E13 & 1A94 between the crossings at Flax Mill & Birtley Fen, East of Spalding
1A31 is sat in Spalding station.

Between the parallel lines
1A31 is now detraining at Spalding. All available London-bound trains to stop there until all passengers are accommodated on further services.

Reports of level crossing issues near Lincoln but not currently delaying services.

EMT services on the MML are obviously expected to be very busy (their crews are being warned of this...).

Approx 500 pax detrained at Spalding. ALL up trains to call until all pax removed.

But how can they call at Spalding, unless the 1A31 'limps' into the siding??

I'm struggling to visualise 500 people at Spalding to be quite honest! It isn't an absolute shack but they must be spilling out of the station. I hope the BTP get there swiftly as crowd control is going to be very important for everyone's safety. There appear to be six trains in the vicinity that could help move people (though three are GC and a fourth is HT) but it's going to need some sort of control to manage it!
