Any particular reason, or just something a bit special to mark the branch's re-opening?

I'd say its most likely to ensure the slam doesn't fail on its first passenger run in 7 weeks.

Doesn't really stop it failing - just provides immediate rescue :p

Well it would prevent the slam from failing - as the ED would still provide power .... :P

In most events of say the traction motors failing then it would provide instant recovery, if say the lighting auxiliary failed then it would cause an issue.

Just been told that the first driver booked on the shuttle does not know EDs... handy!!!

Now confirmed - 2 drivers, top n tailing drivers by the sounds of it!

Tum te tum... thanks to Mr J at Bomo station at silly o clock ...

Or if the air pipes between the loco and unit got ripped off, the whole lot would stop.
If the current went off, no heat
and who says the loco isn't fail proof? 8-)
