I wonder why EMR have hardly any HST’s operating on their new Coronavirus timetable. Are they not needed for limited services? I hope they come back for the May timetable once this is all over!

Because they aren't needed and it's easier for crews to work on a 222 as they can remain isolated in the kitchen.

For a reduced timetable there seem to be a fair number of HSTs out - though as the workings don't balance (to put it mildly) I suspect some of them are incorrect (HST timings but worked by 222).

I was on this earlier which is timed for HST but was a 222. Hence the quicker times.

The timetable is largely accurate when it is normal but when engineering works or a reduced service it is not as accurate for train types. The workings are:
    Set 1: 1D66 (1904 London - Leeds)
    Set 2: 1C15 (0519 Leeds - London), 1F63 (1819 London - Sheffield)
    Set 3: 1C11 (0523 Sheffield - London)

That was indeed my source, as EM differentiate between their train types and their normal timetables are accurate; a PDF timetable gives a good quick overview. I did point out that there were obvious inaccuracies, but didn't realise there were quite so many :(

Are ex-LNER HSTs being used on the emergency timetable workings?

Observations at Bedford from 11:30-19:00 TODAY (25th)
    1F63 HST
    1B51/1D26/1D31/1D56/1C32/1C37/1C57/1C62/1F32/1F37/1F52/1F60 222 (7)
All others single 222 (5) except:
1B56 Nott-StP was two 222 (5), caused by 222 (5) attached at Nottingham to 1D36 ex 5Z56, then other set detached at StP for 5Z62

No sign of short HSTs or 4-car 222s

Thanks - so are those the only 3 HST sets on services at the moment?

No, as mentioned, but it's poss if the emergency TT stays in place for a while (maybe until into May?) then the LNER sets may start and the current 'EMT' HSTs end during this period with very few in service now due to the emergency timetable.

    What do people think?

The “red” sets will come in as soon as they are ready. EMR will not want to be doing the exams on the existing sets if they can possibly avoid it.

Presumably the short HST sets are being rested until the situation changes and some sort of normality returns?

1C11 was indeed an HST, I heard it go past my house.
