Current situation is that East Midlands Railway are operating the route, the timetable increases slightly on Monday 3 August, but is still less frequent than the pre-COVID one. West of Nottingham the frequency is hourly as normal, but with a couple of gaps. East of Nottingham the frequency is roughly 2-hourly, with the missing trains appearing only round peak time.
If you meant what is to happen to the franchising arrangements, nobody knows, many speculate. It has been suggested that the route might be split at Nottingham with the western half passing to TransPennine Express, or Northern, or even Cross Country. If any decision has been taken, the DfT is keeping incredibly quiet about it, and in the present circumstances, doing nothing at all must seem awfully attractive to government.
