I saw this text mentioned in the PDf on the EMT website regarding 1st class upgrades during the week:
What tickets is this valid with and how is the fare calculated?
I'm planning to go on EMT in September. currently probably using a SSR Potters Bar to Derby (or Matlock) but looking at the options at the moment. The outward would be on a sunday -so the £9 weekend first would apply then but wondered about the upgrade for the return journey - I probbaly won't know what train I will be using until the day.
I might use the route not london ticket & return via Grantham (but would need to excess the outward portion to any permitted as travel via Granthem is not possible on a Sunday morning (& it looks like EMT are diverting from Kettering to Leicester via Corby anyway on sundays in september so a more interesting route!)
UPGRADE ON WEEKDAYS
Upgrade to First Class on weekdays to London, starting from just £19 one way from Wellingborough. Get a
guaranteed large seat and table to work, at seat power points and free WiFi. Complimentary refreshments are served at your seat along with a complimentary newspaper.
Ask at the ticket office or your Train Manager on board to purchase your upgrade (upgrade prices are available with a valid Standard Class ticket and are subject to seat availability).
