That's some mileage! Over 1,200,000 on some of those!

If your contact ever gets the chance, I'd be interested in seeing what 43099 and 43002 have covered...

Thats since the mileage system was introduced.
On SWT we used to see units for 'exams' every 4,000 miles
So from the moment it leaves exam, the unit is safe to run 4,000 miles before it needed to come back in for its next maintenance exam. Normally about 10 days {doors and locks were checked every 28 days as apose to mileage}. Aswell as the 4,000 miles, they had 200 miles emergency, used to safely work them back to depot.
I reckon thats roughly 146,000 miles a year. So 40 years worth of mileage is nowhere near that i'm afraid.

I think FGW do their maintenance in hours as a pose to mileage, so it might not show up.

OK, but 099 is with GNER, hence why I asked, it probably covering more mileage than 002.
Ok, from limited experience, only SWT do mileage based maintenance {even Southern, next door, do hours based maintenance}
With hours based maintenance, it might tell you how many hours a loco or unit has done though...

Lovers Walk scrap
Where can I find that scrapyard. and is it possible for an enthousiast from Holland to make some photo's? :?:

Lovers Walk isn't a scrapyard. It's the depot at Brighton which you could doubtless see from the station platforms when you were at Brighton. Lovers Walk scrap means the train is currently at Lovers Walk destined to be scrapped elsewhere.
