Euston - Edinburgh Super Off Peak

Travelling from London to Edinburgh, leaving around 4 - 5pm, I would have to wait until 7pm on a weekday to be able to use a super-off peak return ticket (return portion) on the direct service up the east coast.

However, the East Coast website suggests I can take any early-evening Glasgow service from Euston and change at Carlisle, but I'm not so sure.. for a start there appears to be no super-off peak fare from Euston to Glasgow.

I thought super-off peak was not for trains leaving London in the early evening, end of. Any help appreciated!

Yes, it's Edinburgh - London super off peak return.

Just out of curiosity, if someone wanted to get from London to Glasgow, since East Coast do 'any permitted' super off peak singles at half the usual price as far as Edinburgh, is it allowed to get London Terminals - Edinburgh (via Glasgow) and simply not travel from Queen Street to Edinburgh?

You may. Glasgow is on a permitted route* and Break of Journey (which is what stopping short is classed as) is allowed on both portions. I had a cursory check of the easements and there is nothing forbidding it that I saw


*I've not checked with the routeing guide but NRES is satisfied that I only need one ticket to do such a journey

London - Edinburgh would be permitted on map AS, the Anglo-Scottish routes.
