Afternoon all,

I recently was informed that Sheffield Supertram used to own an ex-Berlin tram for use as a works car. Does anyone know if it was actually used in Sheffield, and what it's fate was?

Thanks in advance.

You are indeed correct. Unofficially I believe it was numbered 126, although sadly never made it out onto the main line, and was nicknamed "Adolf".

It passed to the National Tramway Museum at Crich who used it for parts for their ex-Berlin access tram 3006 - "Eric", and during Adolf's stay at Crich it was known as "Ernie"

It made it onto the MAINLINE at dead of night as far as Cathedral it then went to Sheffield Stagion and returned to depot, there are some photos of it on its travels.

It would have been interesting to see it go up park grange road.

It carried passangers at the first public depot open day in the yard

Understand there was a feasability study yo convert it back to passenger use and use it on Herdings to Gleadless Town End shuttles.

It did end up been used at Crich for spares

Wasn't aware it'd made it out onto the mainline - thanks.

Right sort of size for Herdings to Gleadless though
