Hi all, 67017/HD01 seems to be allocated 1W00 then 1V70 tomorrow - does anyone know whether the loco is north or south facing? Thanks
Don't think it's gone anywhere to turn recently so should be loco on North end.

The first Sunday diagram 1032 from Swansea to Manchester was a MK4 today but what about the other diagram? 1455 Swansea is showing up on RTT as having first and standard class but only running as far as Cardiff Central?

It was originally cancelled but has now been reinstated. It’s in three different paths, a new one from Cardiff and Shrewsbury but will run throughout

67017+HD01 on that, formed off 1V70. Will be reinstated between Cardiff and Manchester so is now booked to run through.

3Z68 just left Crewe with 67008 on the front and five carriages on a trip to Manchester and back via Warrington.

Does seem to be 1 set missing, was planned to be 2 out. The Crewe starter sets are being used for "other duties" as there's some VIP work for the fleet later on so being used for that.
Not very impressive, is it? Telling people there's first class and food and then providing a ratty old 150, just to make a bit of extra cash on the side...
Presumably for Coldplay (or seemingly just their front man)?

Does anyone know the environmental impact of using special workings instead of service trains? ;)
It was a service train, 1430 off Manchester.

A decision was made to substitute half the other diagrams though to guarantee they got Mk4s hence the lack of diagrams that day.

Thanks for clearing it up.

So now it is Chris Martin and TfW who do not care about what stock appears on the Manchester services.

Should have just sent whatever was booked and been done with it. That is what the rest of us have to cope with.

On the other side if it has reduced the number of Mk4 sets in use the net environmental effect of rearranging the diagrams will be positive.

If only there were ways to further reduce emissions... :)

That diagram is booked Mk4, so they did send what was booked :).

They should have given them a 153/3, after all, it's not like it'd have been overcrowded for a change, no doubt unlike whatever was provided for the lay who had to take the bog standard public service. I'm quite sure Chris Martin wouldn't be singing Paradise about that.

Then again, he used to rule the world, so he says. :E

Absolutely shocking! I'll certainly be mentioning this in my complaint to TfW.

See my confusion here.

All I know is that if it was booked then the other booked diagrams could all run, unless there is something else amiss.

Two weeks ago the 12:30 and 16:30 from Manchester were MK4 but the 14:30 was not. In theory all would be, but theory and practice on the Marches are different things.

It can be quite hit and miss, but once all the sets are ready then I am confident that all booked diagrams should be covered as Mk4.

That’s going to take a while though isn’t it? There are six, possibly seven sets to get SDO modifications and the extra coach added.

All the 4 car sets in service already have SDO - there's a few platforms on the Marches that are too short even with 4. Once the tests are completed and the first 5 car set is out, it shouldn't take too long to sort out the rest.

The lengthening programme will be done after the peak summer months to enable all 5 (hopefully soon to be 6) of the 4 car rakes to run through the summer.
Currently planned to begin in September.

Is HD03 going back to 4 cars temporarily once testing is complete or will they leave it as 5?

Not too sure to be honest. If it's left as a 5 it won't be able to enter service straight away until everything is signed off. Bit of a time will tell that one I think.

Well this is encouraging ; not.

1W19 this week has been:

a 150 (acceptable but my god)
a 3-car 175 (bearable)
a 2-car 175 (oh no)
and only on 2/5 days a loco-hauled MK4 set (yay)

I'm dreading Monday and getting ready to leave earlier if necessary
