Reports have come through of an explosion on a district line train at Tower Hill, causing a stampede. Apparently someone's phone power charging bank blew up and caught fire.

Wondered how long it'd be before that happened.

Doesn't reassure you when taking a flight, does it?

It's not the first time that some of these have been found unstable. There was a small charger that was handed out free by EE a few years ago which was promptly recalled.
There was the builder's power tool battery that combusted on an LO train recently.
Then there were the few (by comparison of the total number in circulation) laptop batteries that had manufacturing faults causing them to combust. Some of those were in aircraft so the airlines issued safety instructions to crew on how to deal with the issue.
