He's glued himself to the window of the DLR train. Notice the policeman in the background.

"British Transport Police confirmed wi-fi has been shut off at some stations in a bid to deter demonstrators."

At least at Canary Wharf trains can bypass the stuck unit without too much disruption. Looks like TfL did a deal with them!
Yes they can. I wonder if the protesters realised that when they started this?

Apparently the Police have no more resources / space to arrest anyone else, so are looking to book other accommodation!
XR suggested that the Police hire buses to transport those they arrest too, to speed things up.

Wait... buses which produce pollution*. Wow.

*I know that London's buses produce less CO2 now than before, but they still produce some.

Having thought about it, they can't move the train whilst the man has his hand glued to the window. Will the BTP remove him from the window or will they wait for the glue to dry ( :) )?

EDIT: From https://news.sky.com/story/extincti...usinesses-12m-as-more-action-planned-11696014

British Transport Police (BTP) said specialist units trained in protest removal have been scrambled to the scene, while Transport for London reported minor delays on the DLR.

Perhaps a DLR fitter could be sent to just remove the window glass...

Probably depends on how the electricity was created.

And building the trains themselves uses energy and materials ...

BUT ...

everything we do has an adverse impact on the environment (typing this, the breakfast I ate this morning, the newspaper I might buy today etc etc

SO ...

the only true way these environment zealots can reduce their impact to zero is by suicide.

Idiots, he lot of them. They are just as bad, if not worse, than other recent protests we have seen both for and against Brexit with considerably more arrests. I wonder how much the policing of this will cost, including the processing and charging of the idiots, and how environmentally friendly that is

The anti-brexit march (400,000 minimum) had no arrests. No damage, no disorder.

Not the marching type myself, but the right to protest is important so long as it is done properly and with thought to others.

I was expecting, well hoping maybe to read some balanced debate this morning!

Your house is on fire, it is burning. If you continue to do nothing or it will burn down.

The last 10 years were the hottest ever, as were the last 3. Last year was the hottest on record and this year is hotter. The effects are catastrophic for all of us and are soon to become irreversible.

Extreme weather events that used to happen every so often now occur regularly and will get far worse. They cost significantly more than some protesting. Lines such as Conwy Valley will be lost forever.

Sea levels are rising, no longer by fractions of a millimetre per year, but by millimetres and soon to be centimetres per year. Ice is melting at 10 times the predicted level from above and underneath. The railway trough Dawlish has a finite life before it is lost in not centuries but decades.

School children are striking on Fridays to tell you, Extinction Rebellion have successfully got everyone talking. They are backed by Scientists, Climate experts, Academics and Engineers. These people are very well informed and very well-funded. They will not stop until you listen and act.

Government and fossil businesses are not telling the truth. They are lying to you, in cahoots with some of the press. Do not be fooled. Large Investors are pulling out of fossil fuel investments as fast as they can, and they know to well the cost if they do not switch their funds!

The UK Government pay 1000’s of times as much subsidy into fossil fuels than renewables, have banned on shore wind, cut grants and support. The Oil industry spends £100’s of millions per year trying to stop electrification and renewables by buying up & stopping ideas and spreading fake information to you all. Get real! They are not acting; they are dragging their feet and blocking progress a lot by pushing for a date well after almost every other country on planet earth. UK says no fossil transport from 2040. The rest of the world has 2025-2030 as a date.

I have switched to renewable energy for heat & power and an electric car. It has not come at a cost to me, it has saved me money as it is cheaper in so many ways.

You can all switch to save the planet and to save money, if not the planet maybe some railway line you hold dear.

Instead of challenging me or these protesters, challenge yourselves to do something and sooner than later!

Perhaps we are?

Without causing chaos to thousands of people.

What have these protestors done other than ... protest?

There is a political party which prioritises such issues. In my area they have fewer candidates this year than four years ago. Why aren't these protestors supporting that party, getting councillors and MPs elected in their cause?

Quite correct, and the Anti Brexit march (along with the Pro Brexit march to some extent) was done in that vein - as were the Pro-Brexit go-slows on the roads to another extent as the disruption was minimal.

These idiots have no consideration for others, they just want to cause as much disruption as possible and at the same time cause much more pollution in the process. I mean gluing yourself to a lorry and a DLR train??? These people need to be arrested, charged, and have a criminal record. I've forgotten about what they are actually protesting against as they are just a bunch of idiots hell bent on causing as much trouble (and pollution) as possible

Just start the train. His hand will soon come away, as will hopefully the rest of his arm and his head on a piece of trackside furniture.

If I had the time I’d go and park my diesel car next to them and just leave it running until it nearly ran out of fuel, and then go and fill up and do it all again. But some of us have stuff to do with our lives.
