Watching the local BBC News tonight there was an article about extra carriages being added to HST sets to help with the over crowding of peak services. Does anyone know where these carriages have been stored at and how long have they been stored for. I also don’t under stand why FGW haven’t put this idea forward before?

Isn't this the item to do with a tender that was put out a few months ago?

I understand its conversion of some buffets and other Mk3 stock into High Density standard HST trailers, and the return of the remaining 180s to use.

In the wonderful world railways nothing happens overnight. There is an unbelievable amount of politics involved in even the slightest changes to a TOCs schedules/fleet.
