Massive number of wildfires happening in Portugal. Both the Northern Line and the Vouga Line were temporarily closed as a result.
Interesting that it got through. According to RegioJet's web site, today's is not running but tomorrow's will run with a diversion I cannot be sure of; around Frydek-Mistek is flooded too so it might be via Zilina. The Kosice services are diverted betwen Hranice and Zilina, presumably via Puchov.Overnight Prague-Przemsyl probably. Not surprising, given the situation in Eastern Czechia and into Poland.
There isn't any realistic alternative for east-west journeys as well when I'm not mistaken? There is the route used by the EC Transalpin, but with several single track sections that's not an easy route to divert a lot of passengers (apart from it being a massive detour as well, especially into Vienna)The Westbahn closure is a biggie though. By far the most important long distance route in Austria and a major commuter line into Vienna as well.

Even worse, Bischofshofen-Selzthal is RRB until 29/09. EC163 is running but via an unbelievably slow and scenic route: Wörgl - Bischofshofen - Salzburg (Süd) - Attnang-Puchheim - Selzthal. Then 23-29/09 it runs via Rosenheim.... the route used by the EC Transalpin ...

It seems that the Westbahn is open again for limited traffic.
That doesn’t sound good. I’m meant to be taking the Nightjet from Brussels to Vienna on the 1st October. All the other Nightjet services are back running from tomorrow except the Brussels one, so I’m guessing it uses the HSL from St Polten.
Sounding like I may have to change my plans.
Indeed. The best thing is to plan for the worst at the moment. Thankfully, we’re on Interrail this time and our hotel in Vienna is booked on a flexible rate so we can still have a great time going somewhere else if we need to without a great financial loss.I don’t know where you looked, but please don’t believe current ÖBB timetable data on the Weststrecke They cannot cope with entering data ATM, unfortunately, and even two days ahead normal device is being displayed even though it will be anything but.

Update - 8:45am
Traffic remains suspended between Forlì and Faenza, between Ravenna and Castelbolognese, between Ravenna and Ferrara, between Ravenna and Faenza, and between Varano and Loreto due to critical weather conditions that are causing the risk of flooding of some rivers.
High Speed, Intercity and Regional trains may be subject to route restrictions or cancellations and may be rerouted on an alternative route.
Due to the impassability of the roads, bus services are not guaranteed.
It is advisable to reschedule your trip.
We don't really.I appreciate this is likely an impossible question to answer, but I was looking to Interrail in Austria / Poland week commencing 14th October.
Do we know if the extent of the damage is likely to affect Vienna - Bohumin - Krakow / Wroclaw for the next month?
Someone who speaks Czech or Polish will have more accurate information.Do we know if the extent of the damage is likely to affect Vienna - Bohumin - Krakow / Wroclaw for the next month?
Interesting:Seems that there's been a few runs today to retrieve displaced ČD stock and bring it back to Prague.
In passenger service I don't believe they are. So I suspect they're either pre-emptively cleared or the paperwork for running them as a one-off isn't as onerous as it would be here!I hadn't realised Comfortjet sets were used into Poland yet
I seen a CD and MAV set near Katowice other day. Warsaw to Budapest service.Interesting:
Suggests Oswiecim-Bohumin is passable as far as Detmarovice

There will be PKP stock in Czechia too.
Presumably ÖBB will get their (SBB) Graz-Przemysl set back soon if they have not already.
See austriantrain's earlier posts.Hoping we’ll make Vienna one way or another!
I have to admit, the updates have been really good. And when there is news on our train, I know they’ll be quick to update.See austriantrain's earlier posts.
ÖBB are now doing a pretty good job of communicating the situation (I'm replanning for someone else who is away at present, hence my day by day interest), a new page appeared today I think:
Unwetterschäden
Seit 4. November: Deutliche Angebotsverbesserung im Nahverkehr - Bahnhof Tullnerfeld wieder geöffnet.www.oebb.at
with clear today/tomorrow maps and night trains operating today/tomorrow. And a picture of a swimming pool in a tunnel entrance.
'Zugbindung aufgehoben' indefinitely between Vienna and Salzburg plus ÖBB and Westbahn mutual ticket acceptance.
Use ÖBB and Westbahn's sites for up to date timetable though, international planners using MERITS are wildly out still.
From Brussels, if ICEs are still ending at Passau the R/REX trains Passau-Linz are probably pretty crowded.
