Follow along from the Famous people on Train I was wondering how many people are enthusiasts?

Many moons ago, I worked with the brother of the drummer from Lieutenant Pigeon. His bag was soundtracks of steam trains, I heard some and they were bloomin' good.

Rod Stewart is known to be a big train lover and has large model railways in his British and American homes (reflecting local prototypes - his British layout is ECML based).

Re the OP, I remember an issue of the Railway Magazine circa 1976, which had an article on all of Lt Pigeon, including Mum, being huge Western fans with a piccie of them all at Swindon recording them.

Funny what you remember.

May 1976, I recognised the cover.

The Radio 6 DJ Steve Lamacq is a keen railway modeller.

Ian Anderson seems to have a soft spot for railways, particularly the GC/GW joint route.

I think you have made these up - I cant see Frank Sinatra, Joe DiMaggio and Gene Hackman at Crewe writing down numbers somehow!

Sinatra was a Class 25 main man, along with Sammy Davis Jnr and Dean Martin they were regulars on the North Wales Coast, hence the name 'The Rat Pack'.

What about Chris Rea - he made a Deltics album - was he a fan

Also what about Chris Tarrant? - isn't he a friend of the owner of 86259

Depending o whether you count industry figures as ’famous’, but at least 2 current TOC MDs are of that persuasion.

Also Lord Adonis, and (apparently) Brother Corbyn.

Peter Snow has a layout to my knowledge and has done commentaries on videos and DVDs
At least one other now deceased BBC newsreader also did commentaries on railway videos
