Another bit of a query I'd like to put up to the forums expertise if I may.
I've got to go up to Thatcham from Fareham on business in a couple of weeks (on a Thursday). Work will provide me with an Anytime Day Return.
That evening I've got a do on up in London so I'd want to go straight from Thatcham.
I have a Network Card. I don't have Oyster.
The most straightforward way (ticket-wise) would seem to be go back to Basingstoke and buy a SuperOffPeak Travel Card from Basingstoke. From Waterloo I'd need to make two bus journeys to get to the venue, and presume this would be the cheapest way of doing it bearing in mind the £13 minimum fare on the Network Card??
However, from a purely travel point of view it would make sense for me to go from Reading to Paddington, catch the tube to the venue, and then return by bus to Waterloo and home to Fareham afterwards. Off the top of my head I can't think of a particularly "clever" way of doing this. Probably a single Reading to Zone 1, a bus fare and then a single Waterloo-Basingstoke. Not sure how much this would cost, but I suspect quite a bit.
Can any of the gurus come up with the cheapest way of making this journey and the cost relative to going back to Basingstoke as in my first option.
Thanks as ever in advance, any savings will be gratefully received bearing in mind the cost of drinks up in town!!!
