I'm currently on this, and it's going round the curve to Westgate and on the ECML Leeds branch....what's going on?

Looks like 1650 Sheffield to Leeds is it still 158901 because there's been a bit of chopping and changing of 158s today as there's a few that need to be at Neville Hill tonight. Only reason looks like it needed to be in low number platforms and can't get beyond 8 from the midland lines

Is it this: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y37419/2015/06/11/advanced

It appears not to have gone via its normal route and arrived on platform 3 at Leeds.

To work 1806 to Carlisle? (OK that supposedly left from 4 but are the platform details guaranteed accurate?)

Platform details are accurate, something came in behind the ex-Sheffield too. Presume it just stayed on the blocks for the rest of the day.

Looks like a simply set swap with a spare unit, the 1805 to Nottingham (What the service would form) started from Platform 2 and went via Westgate - can't trace the forming working for that either, so presumably spare.

Off the Carlisle booked in 1740 actual 1733.

Sorry only just seen replies. Yes it did go in on platform 3 (or it could have even been 4), and it did work the Carlisle train afterwards. Was quite strange really, I've got that train many times before and it's never taken that route.

Not something I've ever heard of either, but a very neat way of doing a set swap involving a Carlisle train without having to cross the whole layout at Leeds.

Gets done fairly frequently. No difference in time really so just replies on a path via Outwood.
