Departs York at 1720.
How many other TOCS would put on such a special to get their staff to an event such as railfest. assuming it is very popular with staff to warrant a HST?
FGW ran 158766 From Exeter to Sheffield last year to transport staff. May have been an industry awards event.Indeed, didn't FGW run a 158 to Sheffield relatively recently in a similar situation?

The Rail Fest HST was well loaded, should of been formed by 43002/43198, the first and last production power cars. Indeed a special beer was being sold on board named, 'First and Last' with HST photo on the bottle label. So bit of a shame they couldnt manage 198....
I'm guessing getting the actual carriages together from the original 253001 set would have been tricky beyond any reasonable effort
Yeh it is. The First Group owned sets are the five with 409xx buffets. From memory, I think this is one of the coaches owned by First Group, who bought 5 sets from Porterbrook a few years ago.
No.
It's a special train for family + friends who work for FGW to take them to Railfest.
