Morning all,

Since introduction, the MKIV fleet has operated services on the Cork mainline. Yesterday, a trial train operated from Mallow to Tralee to allow gauging clearance for the MKIV carriages on the Kerry Road. The MKIV set 4008 operated with "River Flesk" GM 217 . Not sure if the choice of loco was a coincidence or not (River Flesk is in Kerry). The reason for the clearance allows the MKIV fleet to be used on private charters & G.A.A. spls out of Tralee/Killarney/Millstreet.

GM 087 approaches Waterford with the ecs movement from Wexford via Rosslare Strand and Wellingtonbridge, Monday 28 September 2015


LNER Class A4 60009 Union of South Africa approaches Newtongrange on the Borders Railway with the 1044hrs working from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank calling only at Galashiels. Class 67 no. 67026 is at the rear, Sunday 27 September 2015


Class 92 no. 92032 crosses the Slateford Viaduct in Edinburgh with the early running 5B26 0818hrs ECS from Edinburgh to Polmadie Car M.D. This stock operated the 2350hrs Lowland Sleeper from London Euston, splitting in Carstairs.

GM 207 hauled the empty stock from Cork-Cobh this morning for Railtours Ireland "Emerald Isle Express" from Cobh-Killarney. GM 087 is still allocated as the tour loco.

Good morning,

yesterday (Tuesday 20 Oct), the Sperry Train operated Mallow-Cobh-Cork-Midleton-Mallow. GM 076 was in charge of the train with the help of GM 217, which was the Cork thunderbird loco.


217 at Cobh Junction with the Cobh-Cork working.


076 at Carrigtwohill with the Cork-Midleton working.


217 departing Midleton with the working to Cork. At Cork, 076 operated the train back to Mallow.
