Will they be re-opening the disused platform at Finsbury Park?

Looks like they have started some work today on the platform.

Where the platforms re-numbered after it was closed years ago 1976.

Yes - the project is to provide a third passenger line in each direction between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace, and runs for the next two years, til Dec 2013.

The main purpose is to allow Moorgate trains to/from the Hertford loop to run independently of the ECML, various track and crossover rearrangements are also taking place, the main limitation is that intermediate stations are not getting extra platform faces initially...

Don't know about previous platform numbering though...

PS - there is Thameslink platform lengthening to do as well, so I expect more platform work will also be happening, it may make sense for this to be done at the same time as the third up platform...

This is why I like your posts, ;)

As to numbering it, that's easy - it's going to be Platform 0 which is what they did at Kings Cross.

Will this be starting on the Dec 2011 timetable.

Have FCC got the new timetable out yet?

Yup, they've learned from their mistakes, and they can repeat them exactly!

Apparently KX will renumber in the more usual way whenever the area gets resignalled, and I'm sure that will include Finsbury Park.

Anyone got a date on that?

Not yet but there are least 2 evening Kings Cross to Peterborough services in the current timetable which are so rammed as 8 car 365s, extra measures have to be taken at Stevenage to dispatch the services but also deal with the overcrowding as best as possible.

Will be interesting to see which the stopping patterns of the 12 cars services in the morning and evening peak especially as Letchworth will have the work completed by then to accept 12 car trains.
