North Wales services were disrupted this morning by a small fire at Llandudno Junction, apparently, according to the North Wales Post, in Roger's Taxi Office on the platform.

Although the fire was extinguished by 9am, and train services were resumed, they are now not calling there for the rest of the day. RRBs are being provided between Bangor-Llandudno Junction and Colwyn Bay and Llandudno Junction-Llandudno.

Is the structural damage so severe that the station must remain closed?

Trains are unable to stop at Llandudno Junction due to safety reasons after a blaze broke out in a taxi office at the station on Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to Roger’s Taxi office just before 7.10am after an electrical problem sparked a small fire.

Arriva Trains Wales said that the station will stay closed for all of today while engineers and building inspectors make the building safe.

No power available to the station is the main issue holding back a reopening.

What damage was done to the station? Is it the building infrastructure or the "rail moving parts"? Nice little station, shame if it's badly damaged.

From memory the Rogers taxi office referred to is the under the footbridge (a kind of big under-stairs cupboard) and this is the only access to the station, so may be the footbridge is unsafe?
Hope they get it sorted soon.

The position of the taxi office is confirmed by the photo in the Daily Post link in post #7

A railway station closed after a fire will stay shut until at least Thursday.

Trains on the North Wales coast mainline have not stopped at the station while repairs take place to the building and the electricity supply.

Bus replacement services are operating to and from Colwyn Bay, and on journeys to Llandudno and Deganwy as National Rail set a provisional reopening date.

The fire damaged a lift shaft, building structures and the electricity supply which "means it is unsafe to permit public access to the station until repairs are completed", National Rail said.

"It is anticipated that a provisional reopening date of Thursday 5 April can be achieved."

National Rail has warned trains running through the damaged station between Holyhead and Chester could be cancelled, revised or delayed while repairs continue.

Conwy Valley services have been suspended.

Disruption is affecting all Arriva Trains Wales services between Anglesey and Llandudno to Cardiff Central, Birmingham International, Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, London Euston and Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd.

Virgin Trains services to Holyhead, Birmingham New Street and London Euston will go directly between Colwyn Bay and Bangor.

Or you could use the Cambrian line, change at Minffordd or Porthmadog, then use the Ffestiniog Railway to Blaenau Ffestiniog;););):lol::lol:

Which actually might be better, as it is actually near Minffordd that I want to be at, but I'm coming down from near Carlisle !

Think this is now a moot point - I need to escort some large packages so car it will have to be. The last time we tried a courier two of the six boxes got themselves lost for a few days !
