Route 2 and 3 should have swapped IMO. 3 would suit Green and 2 would suit Orange... ok I’m OCD. Could someone post a pic if they get one :D

    How is that OCD?

Anyway...2 goes past Parkhead and 3 goes past Ibrox...swapping over the colours would be egg on face time.

It’s odd I seem to associate certain routes with certain colours and I never saw the 3 as orange I saw more of a green for that route and the 2 being pink or blue. Lol... anyway

It’s good to see more routes being branded.

There were already a few groans and moans over the old liveries that had green in them appearing on the 3 and 10 a few times. Seen one of them on a 10 today actually come to think of it.

It's all a bit embarrassing to complain about something so trivial anyway but sadly people will do it. Couldn't imagine complaining because of a colour just because I support Celtic tbh

So there is no mention of Govan or Drumchapel on the 3s branding. What’s the point of that?

With the route length, I guess it gives them an opportunity to cut it down slightly if needs be. It's over 2 hours as it is tbh so a trim isn't impossible

Neither Faifley or Baillieston appear on the branding for the 2.

I think because that’s the end destination there is no need to have it on the branding really. The 2 is the exact same.

Could it be to do with the number of places a bus goes through and it's route length whether the terminus at each end is mentioned on the branding?

The 2 and 3 are very long routes whereas even with the express branded buses the routes aren't massive. Just a guess but a thought nonetheless.

With the 38s it's probably just the amount of variations and destinations on the routes

Something I’ve noticed about the buses on the 9 is that they are slowly getting into a more dire state.

seen a few at the bus station today with the side display displaying nothing but solid rectangles.

is a a refurbishment or replacement planned for these buses anytime soon, as I’m pretty sure these are the same ones that have been around since at least 2006 (when I last used the 9)

Yes these are the native B7RLEs that were introduced in 2005/2006. It’s such a shame because they are good buses they just need a refurb and repaint.

It’s been rumoured various times that the 9/9A will be the next route to receive new stock in the form of E200MMCs but it is yet to be confirmed.

Would hope the 9/9A were getting new stock tbh because it would fairly cement a bit of dominance over Mcgills through PRW plus the buses on it currently were already not great back when I went to college in Paisley and I finished there 6 and a half years ago. There's the occasional E300 on a Sunday and that's as good as I've seen. Even a 65 plate E200 MMC on a 10 earlier today

Personally, if I was living in paisley I’d take the 38, purely on the quality of the buses.

Whereas if I had the option, I'd switch away from McGills - I specifically need the Spateston branch, but it's hideously unreliable

I went to college with a guy who used it from Elderslie for 2 years and he always said the reliability was the worst thing about it. I always wonder what would happen if First ever tried anything into Johnstone or even Linwood again

When the Volvo B7rles were new they were used on the 20, 40, 54, 61 and 62. Then a couple of years later second hand examples arrived, mainly with Manchester and West Country prefixes (although I'm not sure exactly were they came from) to run on the 201, 240 and 267.

I haven't known the 9 to be fully operated by new buses for a very long time. Going back 30 years ago some of the AH Volvo Citybuses were put on the 9 when new but it was still predominately operated by LAs (Leyland Atlanteans).

I remember the B7RLEs appearing on the 9 when they were fairly new. The B10LAs and B7LAs were on that route mainly at that time if I recall.

The 9 is fairly popular still so I’m surprised that it’s not had newer buses before now.

The Volvo B10las were new to First Glasgow to be used on the 62. They were transferred down south (not sure where) in 2001 and returned in 2005. The B7las I think came from Southampton and there was one brand new (05 plate) and they were mainly used on the 9 and the 40. The 05 plate was transferred to Aberdeen and the rest were all withdrawn by 2013.
