Saw a few of the unbranded E400MMCs have more lilac on them which looks slightly odd. Anyone know if anymore branding is to go on them.

Ones with the painted destination surrounds and bottom of the window will remain unbranded.

Think they look very smart like that.

Also e200s are not leaving for Overtown tonight. Possibly due to the fact they don't have ticket machines installed yet and what ever else they need done.

At 1030am on a saturday?
The 1017 journey from the City Centre to East Kilbride Bus Station is operated by Caledonia and then the vehicle operates on the 6 from Calderwood. The running number was 45 but I'm not sure if that is still applicable.

Why did FG not paint the front of the new buses the same colour as that used in their network map for routes 38, 75, 18, 34? Seems strange to use e.g. red on the 18 when the map uses a shade of green, green on the 34 with the map yellow/amber etc? The 75 map uses brown - ok, so painting a bus front brown isn't great but maybe they could have changed that route colour in the map?

You may have answered your own question ;) Perhaps these are more marketable colours?

Who's to say that they won't change the map though how many of the general public are going to look at the bus and then cross reference with the colour on the map?

In fairness the map on the website is a little outdated now and awful to read as it's just a JPG file inserted on to a PDF.

The colours on the map were their colours on the old overground network

The other private plates are from days gone by from the Kelvin days.

Should also note that it's cheaper to have those plates on buses rather than not being used but still in retention.

Aberdeen have been putting W-FAL plates on their Levantes with recent acquisition 20812 gaining the PSU628 plate off of recently withdrawn 23305. Without a doubt the 3 Panthers coming up from Reading will get private plates too.

retaining a plate is now down from £105 to £80 and theres no annual £25 renewel cost for a rentention either, the only cost downside is renewal of the retention every 10 years if it hasnt been assigned before then, the retention cost also includes the reassignment once you want to put the plate back on something else from retention.

Of course where the saving must be is the £25 cost every 10 years, given that a buses typically life is 14+ years.

Perhaps, but as you'll know. Even then over a number of vehicles that all adds up. It may be a small cost, but it's a cost nonetheless!

Yeah but not much so you may as well do it to disguise the age. Coach firms have been doing it for eons and whilst gricers will be wringing their hands in angst, Joe Public will be fooled.

The public only notice the age if the vehicle is in poor condition. If you have high quality well maintained "older" buses they most likely wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I think the ageless plates work well on the refurbished buses, as has been said above Joe public gets the impression of a new bus or a more premium service with "private" plates and leather seats, wood effect floors. Be a whole different ball game if they shoved them on the tattier buses. A small cost for a private company and something that can be reused as the fleet are replaced.
