34183 was working the number 1 on 23/12, and the RNLI liveried ALX200, didn't see any others that you mention, but of course not seeing them means nothing.

I understand some if not all of the T/V reg Tridents were made and certified DDA when they had their central door removed.

The deckers have another year so wont be going anywhere yet unless they reach the end of their life first.

I am trying to find out what buses will be running tomorrow between Bodmin and Penwithick since it is a public holiday. The Christmas schedule is supposed to be on the Firstkernow website but I cannot find it anywhere. Why can't they post it in big letters on their homepage? Why is it hidden away where nobody can find it? Very Frustrating!!!

First Kernow Facebook page says a normal sunday service, with the Exception of the 101 which is running the public holiday timetable

Bank Holiday Mon 28 Dec: Sunday timetable. However the public holiday timetable will run for service 101 (Eden Project – St Austell) – please see the timetable section to view the timetables.

One also assumes you haven't been on the First Kernow website as there is a massive banner taking up almost the entire home page

www.firstkernow.co.uk Click on the banner - there are 3 banners in rotation each staying up for around 5 seconds so you may have to wait up to 10 seconds for it to come round again

Anyway to save you the trouble, 1034, 1234, 1434, 1634 departures from Bodmin Morrisons. arriving penwithick 48 minutes later,

Departures from Penwithick 0938, 1138, 1338, 1538.

What is irritating is that once again the alterations to the evening 6/6A due to the Mousehole Christmas lights appear to be a state secret. From 12 December until 4(?) January buses have to turn at the Coastguards Hotel and the 6A has to double-back on itself to serve Gwavas and Paul, resulting in some significant timing changes.

There is no mention anywhere on the website, let alone a published timetable. The only way you would know about it is to look at the timetable panels on the two stops in Mousehole (I tried Traveline SW and it gave me a nonsensical timetable) .

Just noticed this myself. I guess First Kernow have a site in Bodmin and will operate it from there. The only thing I can think of that might get around the route without too much bother would be a Solo M710SE.

A look on the VOSA Bus Service Registration website (click "Operator Search", then click "PSV operators" and click to search by licence number) for licence PH0004983 gives the nearest operating site as being Padstow, the address being a field right next to the Tesco store, on the Newquay side. There is no mention of a yard for Bodmin so that is quite a dead run.

A look at the site on Google Earth reveals what looks to be a car park, surrounded by railings to which a FirstGroup banner is attached, containing a FirstGroup double-decker of the Olympian sort as well as a sign advertising a Park and Ride. I note with surprise that, despite having taken over various operations from Western Greyhound, no operating addresses are mentioned in St. Austell or Newquay.

The only service I ever see full and standing is the 14/18. I guess that will stay single decker then!!!

Now they are no longer routed under the St Erth railway bridge is there any operational reason why double deckers can not be used?

Webbers had been operating it with an MPD

Double deckers are used on the 14 and 18 when necessary. However, the fleet contains a significant number of 12m single deckers that are principally for the 14/18, and which it would be difficult to use elsewhere. But you never know what may happen in the future...

The First outstation for St Austell is listed as it's an expanded Eden Project o/s with an authorisation for 25 vehicles AFAIK. From there, it's 10 miles to Bodmin so not such dead mileage if they run it from there.

IIRC, there was a Newquay o/s near Hendra holiday park - might just be missed off by VOSA? Sure someone can confirm if it's still extant or has gone in favour of Summercourt

Here was me thinking that the 14/18 might get something like Streetlite Maxes - will wait to see what the future brings.

Missed the Citybuses but they've another summer left in them.

Believe that 50291 is withdrawn and repainted in some black based scheme.

with the first trip starting at st breward i would expect the bus will run in dead from padstow and back to padstow considering several of the truro collage routes from the north are outstationed in padstow.

padstow run one duty on the 94 as well i think in the morning / evening.

They don't appear to have registered this new service yet, and Webber haven't done a cancellation.

Thanks, richw. I did not pay attention to the revolving banner when I checked the website yesterday. I may have read one of the revolving messages but did not check out subsequent messages. In the end I tried the journey planner using the postcodes in Bodmin and Penwithick. I caught the 12.34. The journey planner obviously does not realise how many hills there are in Bodmin or thinks we are all super fit. It said to start walking to the bus stop at 12.31. In fact I left home at 12.10 and only just made it!

A very unusual allocation. Almost all journeys I've seen on the 10/A this past month have been worked by deckers, ditto the 2, even on Sundays.

41383 was on the 10/17 yesterday as well, soldiering on in its last few days.

I saw one of the Lothian SPD Darts on the 10 last week.

Now you come to mention it, almost all 17s deckers too :)- First did try to run it as one route for a while, but Summer traffic problems soon put paid to that.

This was part of the disastrous TAS-designed network introduced in 2004 from which FDC never recovered. It and a number of other changes had to be quickly reversed.
