Ignore me I read it all wrong, long day at work lol
No worries. They would be a reduction in though at Hengrove due to the change in 76.
Not a major one though, personally I'm not that happy that the 76 is getting cut back, it is well used between Henbury and Cribbs so there will be plenty of upset people but yes there are other services, so it could be worse. I wonder if this is more to do with Metrobus works at Cribbs Causeway and thus lack of stop space, compared to consolidating resources.
I'd take the opposite approach - I can't see many normal passengers being worried that the 76 won't run beyond Henbury. With that stretch having the 1 (and either the 3 or 4), with Southmead having the 2, and Gloucester Rd the 75/78, there really are plenty of alternatives.
I remember when it was extended there nobody could understand why, other than operational convenience!
It is busier than the 1 and 4 combined between Cribbs Causeway and Henbury though, so a lot of people will have to change, what bus they get.
Indeed. There's no real point to the 76 running beyond Henbury to Cribbs Causeway. So I can see the logic as to why they've decided to cut it back to Henbury again. Tormarton Crescent or Crow Lane lay-by? May well be Tormarton Crescent as I think the reason they originally changed it from Crow Lane to Tormarton Crescent some years ago was due to problems with troublesome youths at Crow Lane lay-by.
Will be good to see 76's with Henbury on the destination display again though rather than the usual Cribbs Causeway! Bus services in Bristol isn't as interesting as it used to be, due to far fewer terminating destinations to what there were years ago. For instance a number of services nowadays terminates at Cribbs Causeway and UWE Frenchay. Whereas a number of years ago services terminating in north Bristol would be Henbury, Southmead, Filton(or Filton Church or even Filton West!), Patchway(or Patchway Shadow Factory!), Carrefoure, Bradley Stoke, Polytechnic, Stoke Lodge, Westbury, Avonmouth, Shirehampton, Lawrence Weston. I know things have changed since those days with the build of the stores in the Cribbs Causeway area. But just saying, it's just not as interesting as it used to be!
Incidentally where is the source for these changes in January? Any more further changes in January likely to soon become published?
Looks like news about the changes to the 50 have already become public. It already looks like these changes are going to be unpopular. Why? Because the frequency of the 50 has been reduced to 30 minutes, and the 50a will not serve Hengrove and Whitchurch, instead being curtailed at Airport Road and heading straight back to the depot. These changes have been made apparently due to Metrobus, in which one the routes will serve Bamfield Road which the 50 also serves. However Metrobus will be no good to many people as it will not serve huge swathes in the area that the 50 does (and also the route of the Metrobus route apparently has also changed so it won't go up up Bamfield anymore).
If these changes are due to MetroBus, not sure why these changes are in January. As the MetroBus services serving Hengrove won't be running by then!
The fire damaged E400 33750 should be back and about soon and heading to Weston. It's almost ready in orange.
Good to hear. How is the 'exceling' of buses coming along btw? It looks to be almost done now - I rarely see an urban liveried one in Bristol.
Not far now, still a few to go
Dart 42948 running in a unbranded express yourself livery
Where is 42948 now? Is it back in Weston only it had come to Bath with 42959.
I was surprised to see purple 42910 on Bath Uni U1 this morning. Perhaps it never went to Weston with 42897/99?
Maybe our WM friends would know. Also 10036/37 were alive and well on the U1
42948 is in Weston. Saw it at 12pm.
42897/42899 are in Weston.
Weston currently has 31 E400s plus 33750 when it turns up making 32. Quite a few of these are now orange, I reckon around 18/19 with sone running unbranded. Plus the 3 Streetlites. It certainley looks striking and impressive when you see a row of them in Bristol Bus Stn occupying bays 9/10/11/12. I think some investment should be made to replicate the brand onto the bays. Some customers still remain confused asking if they are First. It will be interesting if the vehicles operated by Abus on the X8 will be so treated as well.
There are still examples floating around in both Urban and Express Yourself.
In eXcel orange (20)
33412, 33413, 33414, 33416, 33419, 33506, 33508, 33550, 33560, 33566, 33571, 33666, 33667, 33750, 33827, 33828, 33829, 47551, 47552, 47553
Hopefully when 33415 reaches its place in the queue, it will have it's heating sorted. I went on it on an X2 Monday and upstairs there was no heat at all. It was like it all last winter as well.
Indeed it has. Travelwest already has the details online. Wessex are to drop the 51 from Court Farm Road and Belland Drive too.
Is it possible that the 50 and 50a are in fact a circular with 50a trips becoming 50 at the depot and vice versa?
Could be marketed that way, so still giving 4ph to Whitchurch & Hengrove?
Thanks for all the updates. I agree it does look really good, particularly, in my opinion, on the streetlites. Not far to go now, and hopefully express yourself stuff will also be gone soon. Wonder what the next big rebrand project is.... hopefully Bath!!
Maybe as they started that on the 5 route B7RLEs and 1 Optare Solo.
There was talk of branding etc. for Weston Town Services to compliment the Excel country fleet. No idea what the plan is though.
