This thread is for fleet changes and fleet news within the Lothian Buses Family (Lothian City Buses, Lothian Country, EastCoastBuses, Edinburgh Tours and Lothian Motorcoaches).

This thread can include:

New Buses ordered/ entering service.
Fleet movements/ swaps (Transfers) .
Recent Repaints/ Refurbishments.
Vehicles history (e.g previous owners ect).
Withdrawn/ Scrapped Buses.

Yes but I had made this one for Fleet talk only.

This is more specific for Lothian fleet e.g. "does anyone know if SN13 BFA (181) is coming back into service".

Though that is for now a rhetorical question that is an example for what can be talked about here.

It is to de-clutter the main thread from specific questions on vehicles.

Just to clarify, from my view the sort of prediction questions that have been seen on the main Lothian thread would still be a problem here I feel, as then the clutter on the old thread just gets moved rather than gone. I’m sure the admins will be able to clarify more on this?


Personally I think this thread would be much better used as something more to do with transfers/repaints rather than ‘what’s happening with xyz’. I started a similar thread on the old bus and coach forum (I think that’s what it was called), where some of us posted things when we knew them and I posted a general monthly update on the transfers/repaints etc.

For example a number of B9’s are currently at Seafield, information like that would be very useful being posted here.

Okay, I will put in edits to accommodate the extra details, this is still in a sort of a "beta" form and I am welcome to any suggestions anyone make about this thread .

Edit: The thread rules at the top says you can talk about repaints and transfers.

Sorry, I must have missed it, but why can’t details about the fleet be discussed in the main Lothian thread?
Will having two threads not just mean many things will be discussed twice, as they’ll have relevance in both?

The fleet can be discussed in the main thread, in detail.

It will cause things to be watered down and double discussions, but someone wanted to start a thread and they have.

This just seems to be a thread to discuss the same few vehicles that are off the road (1029 etc), surely when/if they ever get repaired this can be covered in the main thread rather than the same questions being asked about them every few weeks/days.

The idea of this thread was to allow fleet movements and other updates to be separated from the general discussion, but so far all it has done is generated debate about whether it should exist!

I therefore see no point in continuing with a separate thread. Fleet discussion, including questions about vehicles which haven't seen the light of day for some time, may continue in its original home.
