But qualified for the Champions League at the end of the season before the so called financial doping took place.

....on the back of 5 or so years of spending money they didn't have when Ken Bates was in charge. Without Abramovich to bail them out Chelsea would have almost certainly followed Leeds down to League 1.

As the post above notes it started long before RA.
They finished the Ken Bates era with a debt of £90m (lot of £ in those days) which is why the Russian came in

Two fans that should have been ejected by the security firm employed by Bury FC, but weren't, has ended up with Bury having to play two games behind closed doors as punishment. Subject to appeal. Considering what goes on in other stadiums from violence, pitch invading, homophobic/racist language etc etc, every club should face these sanctions.

Bury Football Club has been informed by Manchester FA that an independent committee has decided that due to the offensive comments made by two supporters during our game against West Didsbury and Chorlton in September, we should be forced to play our next two home games behind closed doors.

We reported the incident at the time, and provided video and other evidence to the police to assist their enquiries at some considerable cost to the club. We have not disputed the claims made. The individuals have not yet had their case heard by the law enforcement authorities and have been prevented from entering the stadium indefinitely whilst we await the outcome.

Our grounds for appeal are limited. We have accepted the facts of the incident, and do not believe that we acted in a way which was anything other than responsible and measured. We accept that the two individuals involved could have been removed from the stadium immediately but the stewards took a view at the time to stop any further problems and review the situation afterwards. We paid additional money to a CCTV specialist to review footage and provided this to the police. Our stewarding costs are £3-4,000 per game, it is not something we take lightly.

The basis of our appeal is that the punishment is excessive. We have seen multiple incidents over recent years of groups of supporters collectively issuing racist, misogynistic and homophobic abuse, as well as tragedy chanting. These have gone unpunished or have been dealt with by fines. We acted on the day. We are unable to completely control the words of two people in a crowd of 3,838 on that particular occasion.

We accept there should be a punishment, but excluding every well-behaved football supporter from a stadium which has already excluded those who perpetrated the offences, does nothing to promote inclusion.

The loss of revenue is extremely damaging and our belief is that it would be far better to use that revenue to fund a campaign intended to positively promote diversity and inclusion. Football needs to change, this would help make that change.

A stadium closure throws this opportunity away and is likely to ignite a more divisive and polarised debate on these important issues.

We have taken huge strides to actively promote diversity and inclusion since forming the club and have raised money and awareness throughout the borough through the hard work of our volunteers, many of whom will be deeply dismayed by this judgement as it punishes them despite their efforts.

For this reason we intend to appeal. It is not because we are in any way dismissive of the issues involved. The appeal process will take a number of weeks and we will continue to play in front of supporters during this period, and we will keep supporters updated as to any progress made as it happens.

We are also concerned that this specific judgment has been published publicly whilst matters are still being considered by the relevant law enforcement authorities.

Darlington and Scarborough faced similar issues after a game last season although games were not played behind closed doors as part of the punishment.

They could fine the club, maybe a % of the gate if they allowed the games to take place @ Gigg, and use that money/fine towards "kick it Out" or similar.

This link has some of the details and a link to the FA decision document: https://yourclub.darlingtonfc.co.uk/dfc-2023-fa-ruling-response#:~:text=Darlington game on Saturday 2nd,Scarborough on January 2nd 2023.

Our issue was behavioural and misogynistic chanting not with added racisit stupidity thrown in! It was 2 or 3 people causing the bother.

DFC:
Darlington Football Club acknowledges the FA's decision of a £1,000 fine, with an additional £500 suspended, due to an unfortunate incident involving a small number of our supporters at the away game against Scarborough on January 2nd 2023.

The club was charged by the FA for the misconduct of some of our supporters, specifically for misogynistic abuse aimed at the female assistant referee in the first half, which contributed to a 40-minute stoppage later in the game.

What if anything have Bury F.C. done with the negligent security company?

Nothing as far as I'm aware. They need changing quickly! If an old chap stands up they'll pounce, but if a couple of young thugs start shouting abuse I bet they'll be nowhere to be seen.

I’m guessing ‘Kevin’ earning a bit of extra money isn’t paid enough to be a hero. Good reliable security costs money. You’ll get what you pay for. It’s all ‘tick boxes’ nowadays.

Northern Premier League...Premier Division

Lancaster City 0 ... Hyde United 4

This is normally a difficult away fixture for Hyde and Lancaster are mid-table but Hyde scored in the 16th and 26 minutes to go 2-0 up at half-time. Two futher goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half in the 52nd and 57th minute further extended their lead and a clean sheet was kept as a bonus. This is the second successive match that Hyde have scored four goals which have improved their goal difference. Hyde are now in third place in the league table.

Hope Reading give the PV fans their money and travel costs back.

They won't of course...

As for Bolton I have a few mates that were there and sit in the East stand. Worrying a bit until they are all accounted for.

800 Vale fans make a totally wasted journey and get caught up in something that has nothing to do with them. Not the first time Reading fans have protested recently and you'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel for them but taking this sort of action is harming the game and the FA should award the points to Vale.

And yet I'm seeing none of this outrage from Port Vale fans. Perhaps they understand how little power Reading fans have over their situation and how limited their options are to make their feelings known to both the owner of their club and the authorities.

As for harming the game, it's perfectly clear that the harm is being done by irresponsible absentee owners.

Subsidised (or free) admission/coach travel for those Port Vale supporters in attendance yesterday, when the match is eventually rescheduled? No refunds though!

I'm certainly not outraged by the situation, i have no dog in this fight but if protests halt games them we are in very dangerous territory. Vale fans seem to be blaming idiots for the abandonment who probably didn't even know what they were protesting about. Reading FC need to do a hell of a lot more to make sure there is no repeat of yesterday's shenanigans.

Blame the EFL. They are supposed to investigate prospective owners thoroughly to ensure they are financially capable of running a football club. They obviously failed with Reading and others too, as we all well know!

Yes, and they have made some bad decisions over the years, but on the other hand the test is a one-off at a single point in time, and in the case of Reading it was seven years ago.

What can/should they do if an owner is perceived by his club’s fans to be letting them down, but isn’t (unlike say Tilley at Fleetwood) breaking the law. Is there any recourse?

My neighbour tells me that it appears that the Bolton Wanderers fan who was given emergency treatment has now died. Can anyone on thread confirm this to be the case.
Sadly, been confirmed by "The Independent" newspaper's online website.

Extracts...
The Bolton Wanderers supporter who suffered a suspected cardiac arrest in Saturday’s abandoned League One clash with Cheltenham Town has died, the Lancashire club have announced.
The 71-year-old was given sustained CPR treatment by medical staff and paramedics at the stadium before being taken to hospital where he tragically died.

This. And I think it should be noted that the EFL and PL have tightened up on this, which is why Everton are still in ownership limbo and no takeover has happened at Morecambe.

Stockport County 3 vs Walsall 1

Wife's first ever "larger" live football match and I think she loved it more than me! An action-packed game, but no goals until stoppage time in the first half when Akil Wright scored for County, only to have the Midlanders equalise through sloppy defending off a corner barely 2 minutes later. County recovered in the second half after a sloppy first ten minutes, and then scored 1 penalty and 1 outright goal. The Hatters remain top of League 2, pulling away from Mansfield after they were held away at Morecambe, but with Wrexham breathing down their necks and also having a match in hand.
