Thanks for the corrections folks.
A couple more for you - Coventry City's current ground was called the City of Coventry Stadium for the 2012 Olympics, and the Coventry Stadium for the 2022 Commonwealth Games; and Leicester City's former name was Leicester Fosse, not Leicester Posse (although I rather prefer the latter!).

Thanks for the update Haywain.

Interestingly the UEFA website names the KCOM as "The Tigers Stadium, Hull". I'm not sure what RL ground sharers Hull FC would make of that.

Apparently the Pirelli Stadium was built on the former site of the Pirelli UK Tyres Ltd Sports & Social Club, and the land was donated to the club by Pirelli, in return for naming rights.

Morecambe is another ground where I struggle to find a non-sponsored name other than Westgate where it is located.

A point was probably the fair result, but infuriating to concede a 96th minute goalkeeping howler to lose 2 points. Well worth a watch if you fancy a good laugh.

Yeah, a draw was about right. I felt sorry for Meslier, as like all goalies a mistake generally leads to a goal for the other team. But on the other hand, he's Leeds so sympathy is generally in short supply.

Chris Rigg is going to be an incredibly good footballer

FA Trophy ... 3rd qualifying round

Congleton Town 1 ... Hyde United 0

Good attendance of 757 saw Hyde once again add to their recent poor run of defeats, this time against a team currently in 18th place from the lower West Division tier of the same Northern Premier League that Hyde a top-half hold in the Premier Division. The winning goal was scored in the 78th minute.

Two questions to ask:-
1) ... How on earth were Hyde top of the Premier Division early in this season?
2) ... What has happened to the team confidence such as they demonstrated early in the season and went away to Macclesfield and came away with a 1-1 draw, after scoring first?

FC Halifax Town 3-2 Tamworth

A game of two halves. In the first half Halifax played as badly as I'd ever seen in 32 years of watching them - you can probably imagine just how bad it must've been :D - and conceded two awful and totally avoidable goals against a pretty limited Tamworth team who couldn't believe their luck. First goal the defence stood watching as a ball bounced in the box, second goal Flo Hoti caught in possession on the edge of our box

Two changes at half time and then Jamie Cooke brought on after about an hour and hey presto, we remembered that you pass the little round white thing and try and kick it into the other team's net. Cooke set up a tap in for Billy Waters, then scored a goal of his own to equalise, and Scott High smashed in the winner from 25 yards on 87 minutes.

Next stop (for me anyway) Boston away in a fortnight, which I'm really looking forward to

Wasn’t a goalkeeping error. The ball hits a large divot (some say part of the sprinkler system at SoL) a yard away from him. He was lined up correctly to gather that ball with appropriate technique. Nothing was wrong at all until the ball hit the divot. Sunderland fans in the bottom tier behind the goal all saw it.

I disagree. Yes, the ball deviated (partly the spin on it, partly hitting a divot), but he got himself into a strange position, neither taking the ball on the half volley nor taking a step back to see how it bounced. Also, as the ball passed him, on his right, he was still moving slightly to his left.

Yes, he was hugely unlucky, but I suspect a bit of "I've done this a million times" complacency too

(99.9999% sure it wasn't a sprinkler head it hit, they're not that close to the goal)

Brings back memories of that beachball at SoL!

Eagle pub near the station (I am often located in there!) is the best place for beers hope you enjoy your trip albeit not the result!

Barnet 3 Boston 1. 420 Boston fans had a good turnout down south. The Hive was great for viewing the Jubilee line! Another defeat sees us 4 points adrift. Barnet the best team ive seen this season. Next match our annual disappointment in the cup no doubt. Gainsborough (A)

Kings Lynn 2 v Darlo 1

Darlo 1-0 up and cruising. Spursed it. Two absolute defensive howlers. Totally self inflicted. FFS.

Oh dear. It's not getting any better for the Premier League.

Following the Leicester City PSR debacle (when the PL was found to have misunderstood and misapplied its own rulebook), independent arbitrators have now concluded that parts of the Premier League's Associated Party rulebook are unlawful.

Time for new leadership at the PL. Richard Masters couldn't be more out of his depth if he'd gone for a paddle in the Mariana Trench.

To be fair, they have also concluded that parts of those rules are lawful. It's notable that both sides are claiming victory in the dispute.

So the PL are claiming victory because, er, only parts of their rulebook have been found to be unlawful?

The unlawful rulebook meant that several sponsorships had to be turned away, so it will be interesting to see if and to what extent damages will need to be paid.

Notice that clubs that acted as witnesses for city were Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton. The first two are blindingly obvious but don't understand the latter.

Everton got dinged for breaking the rules last year, so they're probably upset with the PL in general.

Very sad news coming out of Greece this evening about the untimely passing of former Blades player George Baldock. I always thought he was a consistently good player for them over the years and it's very sad to hear. 31 is far too young.

Let's wait and see what the damages bill looks like and then we can determine how 'victorious' the PL have been.
Is the matter in question that was brought by Manchester City to an independent adjudication body a different matter to the Premier League action against Manchester City. Will the referred-to damages be anything to do with the decision reached by the adjudication body?

Cymru Premier League

The New Saints 1 ... Caernarfon Town 2

Participation in Europe this season is having a detrimental effect on the league form of The New Saints. who lost again even after taking the lead in a home match on Wednesday night. They started the season with a run of wins, but in their last four league matches, they have lost three of these.

It’s a separate issue to the case brought by the Premier League, which is still ongoing. City will try to pursue damages based on this week’s ruling.
It may affect the other case in that City’s lawyers will try to argue if parts of the Premier League’s rules have been found to be unlawful, perhaps the parts they’ve been charged with are too?

There is a potential area of overlap between the two cases, in that the APT case and judgment has yielded some potentially useful evidence that might be helpful to City's legal team contest the alleged non-cooperation breaches in the 'main' case.

The two cases are also linked in that they are part of a wider war between the PL and MCFC. Essentially, City are one of the few PL clubs that would welcome an independent football regulator. The APT judgment provides yet more evidence (see also the recent Leicester City PSR judgment) that fuels the argument that the PL lacks sufficient competence and integrity to regulate itself.

England 1 Greece 2. A poor scrappy performance by England, with their defence at times shambolic. Greece had 3 goals disallowed by VAR!

Southgate was routinely criticised throughout his tenure for lacking sufficient experience & success elsewhere. If the FA had virtually decided on an almost identical promotion of Carsley at least they’ll now face additional scrutiny as to whether that’s still the right choice.

he was also regularly criticised by the PL plastics for being too defensive, boring and not attacking enough or using all of the attacking flair available.

Carsley tried that last night. He is now being castigated for attacking and using all of the attacking flair at his disposal.............
