With Walsall Wood resigning from the Northern Premier League (Midlands) division, it meant their results were expunged. This lifted Grantham Town out of the relegation zone, despite losing the point they gained from them. However, normal service resumed this afternoon with a poor display at Boldmere St. Michael, resulting in a 1-0 defeat and putting us back in the drop zone.

What's gone wrong at Grantham Town in recent years? The Gingerbreads finished fourth in the division above (The Northern Premier League) six or so years ago and then made it to the play-off final.

Farsley Celtic 0 V Darlo 2. Played at Buxton due to rampant tinpottery.

Neither side very good. First away win of season. Apparently 12 Farsley fans there. I only counted 4. They won't make Xmas.

Lack of ambition by the board. Management appointments that didn't work out. The recent change last week was prime example. Louis Bland saved the club from relegation last season, with a young inexperienced side. The start to this season wasn't enough to save his position.

As a senior club official said recently "We've been in a relegation dogfight for the last six years." They were reprieved twice during covid, but really haven't produced the performances and results consistently since to be in contention in the league.

So what was the attendance? Farsley have an average of just over a hundred this season which is dreadful for step 2 football and yesterday could be an all time record low for this league by the sounds of it.

It wasn't announced. The number will be tiny.

No reference to it on Football Webpages. No team line up shown neither. At Step 4 it's a league requirement to supply that information, also bookings and substitutions during the game.

Comment about ground location reminds me of last season. Dunston moaning about having to travel the twelve miles or so to Consett, on a Tuesday night, but conveniently overlooking we had a 320 mile round trip from Grantham.

Franchise FC v Wimbledon in the FA cup today. Lots of police about my way. Hopefully the plastic club gets a spanking.

Birmingham City are safely through to the second round of the FA Cup, with a 1-0 victory at a packed Sutton United.

2-0 win for AFC Wimbledon which is good news as always when they beat them.

they are full time in the glue leagues and signing players from higher divisions. That doesn't come from the gate money.

Absolutely this.

Loss making, propped up by directors loans, and hoping for Netflix or Disney to make a series about them

My comment in my posting only concerned the numbers of supporters who attended the match. Nothing more, nothing less.
they get a good home crowd but then they are hissing the league so people get involved. It is easy when you are winning every week. They weren't there then when Macc were bottom of the league!

They were not well supported in the FL and these crowds will drop again when they get back and the sooner they do the better.

Fleetwood, Harrogate Town and Wrexham have all in recent years bought their way in to the 92 and the general attitude towards them achieving it from people in the non league game was simply good riddance.

Add Salford to the list as well. No fairytale story to be seen there.

Always worth noting that despite the hype and the coin it was fantastic owned Darlington that beat them to one of the glue league titles.

Came from behind to beat them at thier place also.

One of the absolute highlights of my 33 years supporting Halifax was the national league north playoff semi-final second leg against Salford in 2017

At the time they were still managed by the ex-Army double act and had been talking up how they were going to win, and throughout the match one of their “star” players Ritchie Allen was winding us up and acting like he was a proper big time Charlie.

Anyhow, it went to penners, and they missed all three, including Allen whose shot is probably somewhere near the ISS now. Matty Brown scored our fourth to seal a 3-0 shootout win, and during the subsequent pitch invasion swapped his shirt for a can of dark fruits cider with one of my lad’s mates

Oddly enough the Class Of 92 documentary that season didn’t focus too much on the final

Anyone know why Championship scores are not shown on Football Web Pages?

Darlington 1 v Chester 0

A really good result for us. Limited a good Chester side to one long range effort in 90 minutes and created several great chances of our own. Only took one sadly but one was enough!

Scunthorpe United are doing their best to throw away the very good start to the season....

Saturday, they drew 0-0 with Radcliffe, while last night they lost 3-2 away to Spennymore Town.

Recent FA Cup semi final and play off final count for nothing as Mark Robins is relieved of his duties at Coventry.
