Dear All,

Following a recent meeting we have decided to make a few changes to the staffing structure of the Forum.

International Transport continues to be a real success story and to help out we've appointed @Richard Scott to join the team there, he is also going to be acting in the same capacity within Railtours & Preservation.

Within our Fares Advice & Policy as well as Disputes & Prosecutions sections we've appointed @MrJeeves to be a Senior Fares Adviser to help out the existing team. We've also taken the decision to allow Senior Fares Advisers to also help moderate Trip Planning & Reports as there is a lot of overlap between those sections.

Other Transport and, within it, Aviation Discussion have both grown considerably in recent years so we've decided, along with their existing duties, to appoint @Watershed and @rg177 to help look after those sections of the Forum.

We're sure everyone will want to join us in congratulating them on their new roles
:)

Finally in the Buses & Coaches section we're going to be saying goodbye to @GusB as he has decided to stand down from his role as a bus moderator and here is brief message from him:

GusB said:
I've been part of the Buses & Coaches moderation team for a few years now. It has been an enlightening and educational experience and I extend my thanks to those who have contributed their knowledge. When I undertook this task I did so knowing very little about matters outside my own little bubble and I've learned so much since.

I won't deny that it has been somewhat challenging; I've butted heads with a few people over the years, but hopefully there are no long-lasting grudges.

However, presently there are other matters to attend to and I feel that I no longer have the time to devote to the forum as I did before. I wish you all the best!

We're very grateful for his hard work over the years and we're sure everyone will want to wish him the best.

All the best,
The Forum Staff

Could we have a ships and ferries forum? I think it would be very popular with discussion on new routes, trips etc.

ps Seconded ! I like the idea of a ships / ferries forum
It certainly something we can consider but we'd need to see some indication that there was a sufficient amount of discussion to warrant a new forum. I went back in "Other Transport" (the current home of such discussion) and even going back to February this year I hadn't found enough threads to fill one page of a Shipping Forum. Which is quite a low level of discussion! The oldest thread on the front of Aviation Discussion is from a month ago by way of comparison.

So it's not a firm "No" but we'd need to see some more signs of demand I think before we'd seriously consider it.

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
I would also support the introduction of this new category. What I have found is that a lot of shipping and maritime type threads end up drifting off topic and often getting merged into other discussions or simply disappearing. I'm willing to kick-start a few debates and discussions though and see how it goes
