Unless things have changed the site in Taunton is where the HOBC are parked up and these are serviced by the stoke gifford drivers in Bristol. Westbury and Torr Works I would imagine are the busiest freight areas in the west country. I would say freightliner heavy haul are likely to be the biggest employers in the south west but don't go further west than Bristol, Westbury and Eastleigh I think..... (happy to be corrected)
That is interesting, I live in Taunton and was told years back that it was serviced by Bristol. Will keep an eye out for jobs there however I would expect it to be unlikely as it is so small.
So hang on, @Chingy are you saying there's a freight train depot in Exeter?
Tavistock Junc is a colas base for OTMs, sometimes has freight locos there for exams etc but as you know Colas book on from home so not a depot in the true sense of the word.
Taunton FLHH is/was a sub link of Bristol.
DB are at St Blazey they’ll cover any work as far Penzance as required.
Westbury are probably all employed on the Mendip contract I’d assume so I doubt they’d get further than Taunton.
Eastleigh FL is a IM depot mainly deal with intermodal work out of Southampton, DB doing the engineering traffic in the main with GB doing their bit.
Westbury depot is a DB depot and therefore has nothing to do with the Mendip contract anymore. FLHH drivers are now based at Merehead depot and work the Mendip contract from there, signing as far down as Exeter Riverside.
Eastleigh has both a FL Intermodal depot and a FLHH depot. Seperate depots with seperate work. DB also have a depot at Eastleigh, theirs is in the yard, FL is on the station.

Do they have much work nowadays? Last time I spoke to one of them, he'd spent more time being paid to be a signaller on a heritage line than he'd spent at work! HOBC wasn't there at the time though, twas off in the Midlands somewhereTaunton has a establishment of 7 driver’s, currently 2 vacancies.
Only 1 job I can see on the roster this week for them.Do they have much work nowadays? Last time I spoke to one of them, he'd spent more time being paid to be a signaller on a heritage line than he'd spent at work! HOBC wasn't there at the time though, twas off in the Midlands somewhere
Thought that would be the case. Cushty number then. Can't imagine they'll be in a rush to fill those 2 vacanciesOnly 1 job I can see on the roster this week for them.
Will go to TAU for unloading and processing, unless they've changed itOne mans cushy number, is the finance directors easy saving....
HOBC is currently engaged on the Vale of Glamorgan route until Xmas.

Used to get emptied at Norton Fitzwarren for all Western Region stuff. Not seen this week's WSR ops notice yet to see if it's booked on this weekIm sure it was Taunton, or Westbury - definitely comes from Westbury, so probably goes back there I’d assume.
HOBC is running out of Fairwater tomorrow by the looks of it. And last week was run out of Fairwater as well.
The driver’s do cover Mendip work as well now when required.Thought that would be the case. Cushty number then. Can't imagine they'll be in a rush to fill those 2 vacancies
