In the days when London Country was part of the London Transport empire, there were a couple of instances where existing garages were closed and replaced by new facilities in the New Towns which were better sited to meet the growing demand.
Hitchin (HN) closed on 27th April 1959, its operations moving six miles down the road to a new garage at Stevenage (SV). Epping (EP) closed on 21st May 1963 and its operations moved to a new garage at Harlow (HA), seven miles away.
