So in the link there is a tube style new rail and metro lines in West Midlands, but the question is: which rolling stock is suitable for the new railway/metro lines? say for an example for the so-called "West Midlands Overground", is it possible to order extra Class 196s and Class 730s or even introduce battery EMUs?

Considering much of that is in the realms of "not going to happen" I doubt the thought has crossed anyones mind.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
The "Godiva" Line in light blue for the Coventry area appears to be a dog's dinner.

This blue line has a section from Tile Hill to the University of Warwick, and also a pod shuttle as well. I am slightly puzzled why whoever designed this has a duplicate and different form of transport between those two locations.

Does Andy Street as Mayor have a free reign to implement proposals for the region (subject to central Government funds etc), or is he still affiliated to the Conservatives?

The Godiva Line is a mess, the pods don't really make sense to me, looking at the unveiled ones from the UofW I can't see why they just make the Godiva Line (proposed) more frequent.

What Street's map calls "The Godiva Line" seems to be the proposed Coventry VLR, it's very similar to the map given on slide 17 here. Or see the version below from http://www.tautonline.com/vlr-coventrys-vision-future-mobility. I don't know where the "Godiva" name comes from, or why it's shown as a single line when it's planned to be a series of loops.

On the 26 June 2019, plans were submitted to the Department for Transport to get funding for the £2 billion investment programme known as the Midlands Rail Hub. Plans for Moor Street included:
two new platforms (5 and 6)
two extra trains per hour to Leicester and Derby
two extra commuter services per hour from Kings Norton via the Camp Hill Line
one extra train per hour to Nottingham
one extra train per hour to Hereford via Worcester
one extra train per hour to Cardiff Central
one extra train per hour to Bristol Temple Meads
From the quote above, seems like WMR/XC need extra rolling stock like Class 170(cascaded), Class 196, Voyagers etc......

Assuming that the plan does take effect: Voyagers won't be suitable, and there definitely won't be enough 170s available. It's a pity that CAF isn't offering a DEMU...

services to Bristol TM may be suitable to use Voyagers and I think CAF can supply vehicles for XC too
PS sorry for off-topic
The Class 196s will start to be phased in from May/June on the Hereford line and then December on the Shrewsbury line.

Is there any word yet on whether the WM Expansion that was planned to be in place before the 2022 Games is going ahead? If so will extra stock be needed short term?

Do you mean the new stations? Unlikely, University will be done, but the Camp Hills, Willenhall and Darlaston are unlikely. Camp Hill timetable is far from sorted.

I think all five new stations in the West Midlands have now received planning consent. What they are lacking is sufficient funding.
