I live next to the Brighton main line at Purley. What looks like a train of empty maroon-coloured mineral bogies has just trundled past (around 12.57pm, Monday). Didn't see what was at the head end but bringing up the rear was a GBRf class 66. Any idea what it was? Engineering trains are commonly topped and tailed but this didn't look like one.

Empty spoil carrying boxes in connection with the CrossRail project
starting their weekly diagram after recessing at Tonbridge.

All the trains are topped and tailed for operational convenience.
