I've found it, but I had to use google.
It was bugging me that much.
TBH I've never heard of them.
Nice cars though..
What make is it? Really nice!As nobody seems to know the answer I don't mind you (or anyone else) reaping the rewards for your (their) "research". In the meantime here's a picture hint.
Gorgeous isn't it? If they still made cars like that I might take up driving again.

That's the one, your turn...
In the words of Roy Walker 'It's good, but it's not the one'Sunbeam Talbot (or vice versa)?
Close. The Chrysler Alpine springs to mind, but I can't imagine my grandfather driving a motor that won touring car championships! The name Alpine has been used in motor racing, I'm sure.
Closest guess so far!!Hillman Imp (my first car) or one of its variants like the Singer Chamois?
Was it the Hillman Avenger, later rebadged as the Chrysler and Talbot Avenger? I recall there was a sporty model in the range. It was another car from the Rootes/PSA family that my grandfather owned, and my aunt had a later estate version.
Having since checked Wiki, it advises that name was retained by Chrysler and most recently used on the Dodge Avenger.
I fondly remember my grandfather's Avenger which was one of a long line, starting with the Hillman Minx (2), and afterwards he went on to own a Chrysler Alpine, Talbot Samba, Peugeot 205 and finally a Peugeot 106. The only break from the Rootes/PSA stable was a 1970s Ford Consul.
Which leads me onto another motoring question: why was that car badged initially as the Consul rather than Granada?
Ford tended to use Consul for the less powerful. less luxurious and cheaper models of their large saloons hence Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac in Mk1 and 2 guises so I presume they wanted to differentiate the lower spec. 1970s Consul from the Granada in the same way.
Dale is right in that it was the lower spec models that we're branded as Consul, but Trackman is correct in that Granada TV were uneasy about the Granada name being used in case the car was flop. Do you wish to sort it out between you? It's something to do with Granada TV I think , however I do not know the ins and outs.
I'm guessing the original name for the Consul was 'Granada' but they objected, eventually something was sorted out. A bit like the Mini Metro.
